Changing sketch of component won't update model

Hi all,

I had basically 2 x sketches and 2 x bodies.

I wanted to align these so I made them components.

After alignment I realised I needed to edit the original sketch to change some dimensions.

The problem is the sketch changes its dimensions but when I leave the sketch mode the model doesn't update to the new dimensions.

I re-enter the sketch to check and sure enough, the new dimensions are there, but they're not reflected in the model (component body).

Surely after converting a body to a component we can edit the original sketch and have the model update?  If someone could steer me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Thanks so much.  Rob

Have you used the sketch to make a Form in the Sculpt workspace, forms are not parametric. Or are you working in direct mode without history. Some advices either way don't use convert to components, when you start a design create a component and keep creating components for each new part and make sure you activate the components when you work on them. Making all your bodies in the main component is OK as a quick hack but you'll end up with a design that's hard to work with.

If you still have a problem can you export the F3D file and attach of at least attach some screen shots.

Thanks for the detailed help Mark. I was in the model workspace. On a construction with the sketch inside it. I'm not sure, totally stumped. I ended up deleting the model and starting again and it worked fine. I can only guess I've made a simple keystroke error somewhere as I spent about 30 minutes on it and no avail so starting again it was. Of course it was a simple model so not the end of the world but ****, imagine if it was a large project. I'd have to push through then. Thanks again, much appreciated. Rob
