chamfer on sloped face

Hi all

trying to chamfer a hole on a sloped face.

if i select the rim of hole, it chamfers parallel to face. if i select wall of hole it does both sides, also parallel to face.

i need the chamfer to be parallel to the hole. if i use the hole tool it also does it parallel to face

is there an easy way to do  this?

izzy

drawing attached is mockup showing 1 right and 2 wrong chamfers

The example on the left shows chamfering parallel to the drill hole.

I have no access to your file atm.

Make the countersink hole as a Revolve cut, (high side) to accomodate the inclined face.

Might help……

that was done by creating an offset plane from bottom, projecting lower sketch, using that point to create a countersunk hole, then changing head size on an m4 hole to something like 25 until the cut "looked right"

bit of a brain-fart way to go about it

Attach your file here - someone will do it for you.

@TheCADWhisperer i like that idea!   i'll just post my ideas and see what you lot come up with 😁

i actually think this problem is sort of a bug, surely if you select the inside wall it should chamfer

at 90deg to that wall - perhaps someone can pester whoever about it.

OR a countersink option on chamfer gizmo

Nope, what Wersy did, but the complete hole and chamfer, as one step. (His sketch is high side as mentioned)

Got twenty, then need to see where you need them.

Might help….

@edmundsizzy

No file Attached?

Tip: Ask yourself, how is it done on the shop floor?

Component (cutter) Joint (position) Combine - Cut (machine operation)

Copy and repeat.
And often ways to automate this process in the virtual world to simplify the process.
