Can this extraordinary task be done with Fusion360?

I have drawn a design in Affinity Designer and i want this svg file, which has a specific size, to be extruded.

In Fusion 360 i find no tool for setting the size of the svg import. I just want to set the size to the original dimensions because what Fusion imports is way to big and has nothing to do with the original size. So i cannot even use the scal function.

I am a bit confused that in such a 3D App there is no chance to set the size of an object....

I don't think the SVG file format has any provision for storing size data. I think it just stores unit values without any unit being specified. And I think F360 just assumes that the unit should be whatever is set up as the default unit. So, for example, if the SVG was created in mm., but your F360 is defaulting to in., then your model would be 25.4x too large.

SVG files can store unit info but the Fusion team decided to use DPI with is not really constant. I think they decided to use whatever the default is in acrobat, can't remember quite what it is, either 92 or 96 DPI i think. So if you can set the DPI in the program producing the SVG you should get a 1:1 import.

If you're stuck with scaling in Fusion, first select all of the curves and right click and select Unfix. Then measure the size of the import and scale using the size you want divided by the measured size. So if it measures 150mm and it should be 100mm enter 150/100 in the scale dialog.

DPI, with regard to vector information, isn't used for anything except display and print calculations. It has nothing to do with the actual size of anything. Why the F would anybody code Fusion or any other software to base imported model size based on a useless DPI value?

Looked at an old post I made and it seems it's actually based on pixels that are then based on DPI!

I guess for acrobat using pixels makes some sense but I doubt many people bother setting their DPI to match their screen and if they did the export would not be 96dpi and not much use to anyone else.

Inkscape uses points that I think can be converted and would have been a better choice but it's a free program everyone can use not something you'd want to support.Smiley Wink

Any way given up on SVG, DXF works better for me especially after the last update and imported splines are editable.

Use Scale as I described.
