Can't rotate my model with shift+trackpad (Mac) every 2nd to 3rd open

UPDATE: Temporary fix found on this thread (minimize then un-minimize Fusion 360): http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/general-fusion-360-questions/fusion-360-mac-trackpad-problem/m-p/56082...

On every 2nd or 3rd open of Fusion 360 I instantly test holding SHIFT+moving the trackpad to rotate my model. Unfortunately, when it doesn't work, I'm forced to crash the program and reopen it to get full control back. It's like the controls are reverting/clashing with another setting - as my trackpad defaults back to zooming in and out (with 2 fingers up and down). It doesn't matter what model I open, or even if I open a new workspace, it still happens frequently.

This is becoming a ridiculous slowdown that I would like to know if it's on the roadmap to fix at all? Or if I have any settings that keep reverting back to weird defaults?

For the record, I'm on a mid 2014 Macbook Pro Retina, high specs, and latest Yosemite.

Hi I think it is due to one of the problem I had reported. The Zoom Pan section in " preference" changed to either "Sold Works" or "Alias". This happened automatically a little while after you had checked or unchecked "Gesture Base" option. I already sent log file to someone at the team. I tried that many times and finally I hit the time that the Zoom Pan changed to "Alias" in front of my eyes by itself. I sent that log file but maybe no one noticed that or in the process of an investigation.  I guess I have to tell you this. Change it back to "Fusion" your trackpad will work better. In fact I had unchecked "Gesture Base" and just use the CUBE to rotate the camera view. Seems to be more stable that way.

This seems to still be a problem.

I use a MacBook Air 2013.

From time to time (several times an hour) the guesture function turns itself off. The solution is to save the drawing, open Preferences, turn off guestures, close Preferences, turn on guestures, close preferences, close Fusion, open Fusion again. Takes some time each time this happens...

The problem reported by the OP is currently fixed in development and due to be released shortly.

What has been happening is that when Fusion is not the app in focus the gestures are not initiated. Minimizing and maximizing the app window re-starts the gestures. Everyone is busy, and people don't like to wait the 30 or 40 seconds it takes Fusion to start, so they would start Fusion, then look at another window such as email. When Fusion was fully started, the trackpad gestures would be still inactive. We found a different way to ensure the gestures are always on.

The problem reported by aabmar does not sound like the same thing but is hopefully fixed by the fix. @aabmar can you please update this post after this weekend and let us know if the problem is fixed?

Hi,

This post is rather old and has been solved recently. I'm surprised you didn't find any of the many recent posts that refer to this article.

Does this help you?

Did you confirm that the preference is marked with a check mark after enabling it?

Have you tried restarting your computer?

Well it's not working (again) in the latest drop (see snap shot).  The bottom line is that kicking in and out of shift-trackpad rotation/orbit doesn't work at all now.  In previous versions it would kick in and out almost randomly.  I found if I hit escape, right clicked and dragged the cursor around then hit escape again it might work again, sometimes just clicking and dragging the cube would work.  But now nothing seems to enable shift-trackpad to orbit/rotate on Mac book.  This has been a problem for YEARs.  How hard is it to fix?

Have you turned on Native Trackpad in Fusion preferences?

I do not see a “native trackpad” option in preferences. I read there was an extension with this name, but it’s no longer available.

Please note, that problem of not being able to rotate using the trackpad, or for that matter anything except zoom, on Mac just showed up with the most recent release.

It's under preview features because we intend to make it the default experience. We aren't sure why, but for some customers this is a required solution since this last update.
