Can't load or save in fusion 360

Anonymous

Starting today everythime I start F360 I get an error popup after 30s or so saying that the browser process has exited unexpectedly, once this popped up I can no longer load, save, or access the data panel. Also once this pops up the AdCefBrowser.exe dissapears from the task manage.

I have tried resetting preferences, as I saw in another thread as well as a clean install based on the tutorial found on the website. I am also attaching a process explorer log for AdCefBrowser.exe.

Welcome to the Fusion 360 community! I am sorry to hear about the issue with the browser process closing unexpectedly. Can you provide a little more information about this issue?

  • Does this issue occur 100% of the time or does the issue occur intermittently?
  • Is there any set of instructions we may follow to reproduce the issue?
  • Are you currently running anti-virus software? Have you tested Fusion 360 with the anti-virus software temporarily disabled?

Thanks,

It hapeens every time, the exe crashes within 30s of startign the app, giving me an error popup saying so and to check a cfew things like antivirus, net connection and the like. As for how to reproduce, i don't know as I can't make it stop, it wasn't doing this last week last time I used it, and it was doing it before I downloaded the patch( I got the first popup before i started the download, didn't have a chance to use the software for a week or so until last night). I was running AV, and it worked before, but I did disable it completely last night to no avail.

I can use the software and design, i just cant save or load, or access the data panel at all.

Hi jkr277,

Could you attach the diagnostic log files for more analysis? It would provide more information for what's happening.

Hi jkr277,

Thanks for the information. I have forwarded your case to the development team (Case ID: UP-23803) and see what we can find from the log files.

Some addtional information might be helpful for the investigation:

1. Did you try restarting the computer and see if it makes any difference?

2. Is there any software (except for Fusion 360) recently installed or updated on your computer?

3. Do you use proxy for internet connection, or did you change any internet settings?

Thanks for the patience and sorry for the inconvenience,

1. Yeah I restarted once after it first started doing this and then again after the reinstall.

2. No new installs, no updates that I can think of.

3. No proxy and haven't messed with internet settings.

Hi jkr277,

Thanks for these information. We will look into it and try to understand what's the root cause.

Meanwhile, as a workaround, you may try “Work Offline” and see if you can save files, or you may export your design to local disk (as .f3d format) & use “New Design From File” to open it.

I know they are not perfect solution because you cannot use the date panel related functionalities. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,

reading similar (Inventor) posts it is related to the proxy settings. Try to change/modify proxy settings under Preferences. Sorry I do not have exact solution, just tip.

Unfortunately, in LOG file there is not any relevant information we could use for tracking problem you have.

Please let us know, if any change in Network setting under Preferences helps somehow.

Well, I didn't see anything in the network settings that should ahve made a difference, but I changed Proxy from "Automatic" to "No Proxy" and it seems to be working now.

I'm starting to have that issue now.  It seems to have started after I updated my nVidia drivers.

I have attempted the advice seen in this thread.  Though, I can't locate "AdCefBrowser.exe" to see if I can add it to my firewall exceptions.  I found "AdCefWebBrowser.exe" instead and added an exception for that.  No difference.  I turned Win-Firewall off completely which also made no difference.

While writing this, I decided to sign out then sign back in.  Upon signing back in, I get the Fusion360 spash-text and the app shows as (Not Responding)

Finally, I'm fully uninstalling and re-installing F360. Also no luck.  Though, it appears my sign-in persisted through the uninstall.  That makes me think that all files aren't removed upon uninstall.

In just about every case where I've see the adcefwebbrowser.exe file missing, it was related to anti-virus software. Could you check out the below link and see if it helps?

It might be helpful to use the Fusion Cleaner to uninstall Fusion 360 if you give it try again.

If you have any questions, let me know!

I'm able to use the browser online again.  I have no good explanation why or how, but, I can at least offer a list of actions I took between not working and working.

  1. Switch to offline mode
  2. Load a design
  3. Make a change
  4. Save the design
  5. Close F360
  6. Reboot computer
  7. Launch F360
  8. Browser loaded while still in offline mode
  9. Switch to online mode
    1. Seems to work fine
  10. Close F360
  11. Launch F360
    1. Still online and still working
  12. Breathe sigh of relief and go on with life...

... Not saying any one of these steps actually resolved the issue, but, that sequence correlated to my ability to use the browser online again.
