The June update has introduced a serious problem for me, I cannot escape orbit once initiated. It's the exact same problem that 123D had a few releases ago. I open a scene, orbit the view and it gets stuck in orbit with no way to stop it. The machine is a bog standard win 7 pc. The May and earlier releases worked fine so I don't know what has changed but I cannot use F3D. All I can do is quit the program once it happens.
Any ideas?

Your video is private. I am STUNNED that Autodesk is culpably ignoring this. I just recommended that our university move away from it since the students lose too much work.
The way that this issues is so culpably ignored has been bugging me. Worse is that my students keep losing work. I recommended we move away from paying money for the licenses and not getting support. Sadly Solidworks is the defacto and what a program but what a learning curve and what a cost.

Autodesk software (including Fusion 360 and Autodesk Inventor Professional (the Autodesk equivalent of SolidWorks) is free to educational institutions and students.
I recommend that you learn how to save early and save often and teach the technique to your students.
My students would hear me say "Save Often" so often - they printed t-shirts in their graphics design class with my motto.

Mac OS 10.15.7
Can you explain how to reproduce the issue on demand.
I am using Windows version of Fusion 360 and I think I have had this happen maybe twice (at least once) since the inception of Fusion. I don't know what I did that initiated the behavior. Replication is the sure path to resolution of the issue.
Can you create a Screencast Recording demonstrating how to reproduce the behavior?
Video is a bit problematic for me but can give you steps to repro.
1) open and work on your model. (sketches, extrude etc).
2) Using the cube in 3D model wiggle it around to orbit around the model holding down the mouse button, KEEP THE MOUSE BUTTON PRESSED AND KEEP ORBITING FOR AT LEAST 10 SECONDS OR SO.
3) Release the mouse button and the orbit is still happening - This is THE BUG. Pressing escape does nothing. The only way to get this to stop happening is to quit and restart Fusion.
This happens on MacOS Monterey (Version 12.4) Both with Intel and Apple Silicon. Fusion Version 2.0.13615 which was just released however it did also happen on the previous version
If you require further info please let me know.
Thanks,
Martin.
I have a try on MacBook Pro with MacOS Monterey (Version 12.4) and Fusion Version 2.0.13615 and followed your steps. But unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the problem on my machine. Not sure of I used the same exactly workflow with you or not. Appreciated if there is a video to show the detailed workflow and operations.
I just tried making a simple cube on a new file (unsaved) and tried the steps I detailed above. Yep, could not reproduce. This is one nasty bug to repro but it does happen it just seems to be intermittent.
Question, is there a way for me to force a crash dump from the application when I do encounter this problem again? It does seem to happen "randomly" which makes it difficult to resolve, again as I mentioned this is a nasty bug to find (Am a software engineer and know how much pain these are to find and fix).
Hey everyone, I think I found a semi-solution. I went back into my data panel and copied the problem file. I deleted it and just opened the copy. Everything works perfectly fine now. You do have to copy and delete a file so I don't know if that can mess anything up, but so far it hasn't come back to bite me.
Wait, nevermind. You can't delete the original. Does anyone know how to?
Still a problem Sept 2022.
One thing that *sometimes* works for me is to use "look at" , and it seems to cancel the stuck orbit.
Autodesk dudes, please fix this. Its *not* a solved problem.
I've found a reliable way to escape "phantom orbit mode":
Option-Command-V on a mac will toggle the view cube off and back on. Doing so seems to reliably get Fusion back into non-orbit mode.
I have a sneaking suspicion that there's a subtle bug in the "transitioning away from dragging the view cube" code leading to Fusion believing you're still dragging the view cube around.
I'm brand new to Fusion360, and this issue is hindering the learning process. I spend a bit of time orbiting around to see different angles when in an extrude mode, and I am unable to select more than one part to extrude or project onto a surface since moving my model in any of these modes almost always means restarting the program. As a beginner 3D modeler, Fusion360 seems quite intuitive and well worth the investment. But this bug has me on the verge of switching, especially since I just learned it's not going away since it's been here for over 8 years!
Can you describe (or better yet - post video of steps) on how to reproduce the issue?
I have had it happen to me 3 or 4 times over last 5 years, but have yet to see (or figure out) how to reproduce the issue.
It sounds like you have figured out how - but then you omitted this critical information.
I've had this issue for some time now on both my Intel Mac and M1 Mac. The issue for me seems to occur when I use the orbit mouse button for too long and then it gets stuck in orbit mode. Can't get it out other than close Fusion 360 and restart. Very frustrating!!!
On my Macs (Mac Pro M1 and Mac Pro intel) the issue occurs when I hold the obit button on my mouse for too long. When I press the centre button on mouse it allows me to orbit the part. if I keep this pressed for too long (ie orbiting too long) then it remains in that mode after when I release the button.
