What is the best file format to use when import SW2017 files into fuiosn?  I have only worked with Native SW files and not familiar with the benefits of the different formats.

.sat/.step/.iges etc....

Thanks.

If it was SolidWorks 2016 you could import directly (not sure if Fusion imports 2017 yet).

Otherwise

I would use STEP (*.stp) or Parasolid (didn't check that one though).

If you use ACIS (*.sat) be sure the sender sets to ACIS v7.

Just use STEP and you should be good to go.

Attached is an example file in several formats.

I uploaded to cloud folder and then opened each format from there.

Some formats do not need to be uploaded to the cloud (just do New Design from file).

Thank you, I was using 2016 and just importing them and never gave it a thought about 2017 until I tried and it failed.
