Appearance Disappears When Importing Into New Design

Hi All,

I am having an issue with a parametric vise I am trying to create on the design side for my setups for manufacturing.  When I change the appearance to the faces or to the entire component, it looks just how I like it.

Now, if I bring that vise into a new project and I break the link, most of the faces lose their appearance.  I cannot figure out why this is.  Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks,

I cannot replicate this issue on any of my models.  Could you please attach this problem vise and let the forum users try it out?

Hi @jhackney1972

Here it is ............. https://a360.co/3l9Qytf

To replicate:

  1. Create a new project
  2. Insert into current design
  3. Break the link

Only the black faces remain.  All others revert back to the original solid colour.

Thanks,

Your model will lose its assigned Appearance, as you said, when Inserted into another assembly and then break the link.  However if I edit the Appearance on two surfaces, using one of your colors, save it, and do the same process, it DOES NOT lose the appearances I applied.  I will continue to look but I am currently at a loss.  @jeff_strater , do you have any ideas?

Hi @jhackney1972

Strange indeed.  I've done this many times in the past without issue.  I've tried changing appearance on the top level as well at the component level.

I did find that if I remove the "default" appearance from the design that it also fixes it.  It's like the default is still being forced over what I've applied once I break the link.

Anyway, here is a recording if you want to see what I mean.... https://autode.sk/3vus16E

Cheers,
