So ive created this form that i want to add a rim to, and im not sure how to add an edge to the face of the form so i can extrude it and create rim for a lid.

to briefly go over what im trying to do, I created a form, and split them by running an unusual plane through them. then i want to add rims to all of them so they all can refit together. (hope thats not to confusing to understand). i created a more simplified form which will show you what i mean (see photos). Thank you

Can you File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here?

Are there any unresolved issues in your timeline (yellow or red highlights)?

I think you want to use Sweep to do this.  Here are a couple of threads that illustrate it on simple geometry:

Here is one approach:

In the screencast I forgot to include the 2 bottom surfaces when thickening, but that is corrected in the attached model.

hey, thank you! i've done some playing with your technique and it works pretty well, i'm going to keep experimenting, but this is a great method. I appreciate you taking the time to show me!
