Hi,

this is was a manufacturer asked for laser-cutting.

In the current design would be about eight such lines. The lines are separated i.e. no closed area.

Any hints are welcome to solve the problem - also including postprocessing in other tools, thank you.

I think it would be helpful to give a little more detail with your question.  some pics maybe, and a little more explanation of what is needed.

step files don't contain 2d geometry (sketches)

I don't even know what you mean by one dimensional geometry.

Hi,

thank you for your reply.

Think about thin slots in a body cut by laser. The slot width is defined by laser cutters pararmeter and not given in the cad-file.

It's odd that a manufacturer would ask for this in a file format where it doesn't exist.  Why aren't they using dxf files?

Probably I did not get it right and the manufacturer needs a step and a dxf for these lines/slots.

In general, if the body can not be definied by a single plane and thickness,

it would be favoureable to have the entiere part definied in one (3d) cad-file.
