Custom scaling from 1:1

I am creating an architectural site model for 3D printing - scale 1:500.

Everything I draw on fusion is 1:1, so I need to go to a converter scale website and manually translate each dimension.

Since I am sure there must be a lot of model makers using this awesome software, I want to submit the following idea:

The ability to design a model in 1:1 and then set a custom scale. For example, model a building, or a plane from known construction drawings and then set the scale of the model to 1:33, 1:200 etc, for manufacture.

I think that would make a great tool. Hope you agree!

As noted by @g-andresen the scale tool already exists.

Now, question about your printing.

Architectural designs are generally very large (thus your need to scale for printing).

When you scale your model - are you actually retaining enough detail in printing to be useful?

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. To be more clear, I am modelling abstracted forms without much detail to be printed in 1:500 scale.

The scaling tool, of course, is an answer. but I was referring more towards the scale tool in Autocad, for instance, you get to toggle the drawing within custom scales.

When using the scale tool - as far as I can tell - you are only modifying the body whereas the sketches remain at 1:1.

At the same time when you want to create 2 models, 1:50 and 1:200 for instance, you need two files off the 1:1 etc.

I was dreaming of a more intuitive mode in which you could create children with different scales of components (not only the bodies). But it is a pretty lazy and spoiled request, I can tell!

I think it is the same in AutoCAD and Fusion.

I think that you confusing 2D and 3D.

In AutoCAD if you have 2D in paperspace you can select scale factor from a list.

In AutoCAD if you have 3D model - you must calculate and enter desired scale. (I could be wrong as it has been more than 10 yrs since I use AutoCAD, but now I will go check...)

You are absolutely right about confusion 2D to 3D. I guess I was wondering about a translation of that 2D-paperspace tool to a 3D tool!
