How do I create a simple path for a 90 degree chamfer bit into a tapered groove?

Ok, here is my problem. I have tried this using almost every choice available and I cannot get a resolution. Below is a link to a video done by another person called cutting points. In the video you can watch as the 90 edging bit is used to cut a v-groove along a straight line the groove is at about a 2.5 degree taper. I can set my 4th axis on a 2.5 degree offset  but I still have the same issue. The block that I have the groove in won't let me select the bottom edge of the groove for engraving or 2d adaptive clearing or any of the other including 3d cam choices so that I can cut the groove in multiple depths as is done in the video. I was hoping to not have to write the program by hand but unless there is one of you out there that can help I might just have to dust of my old machining book and write it out. Thank you in advance for anyone that helps.

Use the Trace toolpath under the 2D Toolpaths menu.

Thank you for the help . Now how do I get the trace program to only select the bottom edge of the groove? Every time I try to select it, it will select the whole wall and i can't deselect individual lines. So the question is how do I select the bottom edge only in trace?

To select a single segment, use the Alt key while clicking the segment. Don't do this to select multiple single-segments though, but you can use it to force a starting segment on a geometry chain by using that, then clicking it again to edit an open chain.

Sweet thank you so much in all the tutorials I've seen I must have missed the "hold Alt key to select individual lines" line.:)

Thank you again

Ok, like I said, thank you. That helps a lot. However if you watch the video link I put in you will see that the cut is in multiple passes and there is a point  when his tool exits it does a move to max height before it returns for the next path. With the trace tool I am limited to one pass. Do you suggest that I make the trace path and put it in a canned cycle so that my tool returns home and then moves in .1" or so and repeat until the desired depth? Do you have another solution. Please watch the video I would like to use the Y axis for my Z depth the way it is in the video if possible. Let me know what you think. Thanks

On the Passes tab there is a checkbox called Axial Offset Passes and you can use this to set your multiple stepdowns as needed.
