Cloud based preferences.

Cloud based preferences.

I use two different computers, one a Mac and one a PC laptop. One is my work laptop that I use sometimes and one is my home PC laptop. Problem is the settings are never synced up. For example the tool bar, if I move a tool up to the tool bar it sticks there for one but I then have to go do it to the other. Other app preferences don't sync either.

Carry on.

Can you try something? Can you set the environment to Dark Sky on one machine then close Fusion. Open Fusion on the other and see if it set to Dark Sky?

Yes, that setting actually held. But the other ribbon contents and application preferences don't share between platforms. Not sure if they would share between one PC to another. I don't have meanse to try that.

I need to double check what carries over from one machine to the next. I'll get back to you with a list.

I've thought about this as well, but if everything is to be synched this carries with it a few potential problems. I too have a laptop where I use F360 sporadically (1366x768 resolution, outdated GPU) as well as a workstation with all the bells and whistles (Full HD, fast CPU, fast GPU). If the settings from my workstation were carried over to my laptop:

  • The toolbar would extend outside the screen. I have room for more tools added to the toolbar on my workstation.
  • Performance settings would kill my laptop. For instance, using DX11 rendering on my laptop causes F360 to crash. Also the Display Settings->Effects settings on my workstation would make my laptop performance too sluggish.

So, please thread carefully if you're extending the sync 🙂 To keep everyone happy this would require selective syncing as in Google Chrome:

Why not have UI profiles? You save your current UI setup to the cloud as a named profile. Each machine can then select a profile to use. You can also create/select profiles for a specific project or file.

The answer is in the profiles! 🙂

Toolbar customization are held in preferences.
