Text appears to be inoperable for FormIt 2024. Attempted several times with input changes, but no success. Attempted without any input changes, just the default "3D Text," and still no success. Opened the Dynamo chart and noted several inherent problems / alerts that are preventing proper operation. Seems like it would take too long to analyze and troubleshoot. Can someone provide a step-by-step solution or otherwise advise when a fix will be available.

Much appreciated @t.sikking, yes, that's a viable workaround for now:

  • Delete or move the DynamoPlayerExtension folder from C:\ProgramData\Dynamo\Dynamo Core\2.17\packages
  • This will not affect Revit

We'll continue to look into this, but that should work in the interim.

More soon. Thanks for your patience and troubleshooting collaboration!

I'm not an IT guy, so I'm a bit apprehensive about interpreting some of your suggestions, such as "removing GD and player packages." I did find Generative Design and Dynamo Player Extension folders under "ProgramData>Dynamo>Dynamo Core>2.17>packages." Is that what you were referring to? If so, do you still think I should remove them?............ Also, (again, I'm not an IT guy) shortly after uninstalling all previous versions of all Autodesk products and installing the the 2024 Autodesk products, took the Dynamo (video) tutorials. The tutorials suggested downloading the on-line data sets, which I did. I'm not sure what all of those downloads consisted of, but most (if not all) of the files, apps, etc. were old. I couldn't use any of the suggested files because my system said they were corrupt (I had to create my own Dynamo charts). Is it possible that some of the data sets contents are contributing to the problem?............. I don't like having unnecessary debris in my files. So, if those files are unnecessary (and maybe problematic), you can tell me where they would have been installed and I can remove them. Other than that and the GD / player package removal questions, it seem like I should sit tight while the Dynamo team volleys the inoperability issues into resolution.

@DEBLAG,

I'd try the following the step in my last response. It's more scoped than the previous suggestion (only one folder), it works and is not dangerous:

  • Delete or move the DynamoPlayerExtension folder from C:\ProgramData\Dynamo\Dynamo Core\2.17\packages
  • This will not affect Revit

If you're concerned, you can simply move the DynamoPlayerExtension folder to your desktop, so you can restore the folder if things break. The latest from the Dynamo and Generative Design teams is that these packages were added in two places in 2024 based on customer requests (instead of one place as before). This is the second, non-critical location, and it's interfering with FormIt's version of Dynamo. So this folder can be temporarily removed to work around this issue.

Can you try it and see if Dynamo works? Would love to unblock you here, and this is low-risk until we determine a proper fix.

That worked! I'll sit tight until you find a permanent solution.

Hi @sajidali59848,

Are you saying you don't have a DynamoPlayerExtension folder in C:\ProgramData\Dynamo\Dynamo Core\2.17\packages?
