Custom Project Fields

Our company would like a way to add custom fields to the project level data (meta data). This would support project assignments and tracking through various stages. Our business as a manufacturing facility, we manage hundreds of projects at any given time. We assign key project roles that are not easily identifiable with project membership or membership roles.  Something similar to the custom fields capability in the RFI or Submittal templates with the same capability. This would also improve our slicing capability in our reporting platforms. 

 

Some examples of our project level data:

  • Construction Team
  • Project Coordinator
  • Superintendent
  • Status (pre-design, design, bid, construction, post construction, commissioning, close out)
  • Awarded Contractors

It would be useful to be able to store these custom fields in project templates also.

We just came up with a use case for this.  We definitely need to be able to define the fields in a project template; no one want to have to create them every time a new project is created.

We fully support this request for custom project fields. Such metadata would greatly assist us in managing our projects more effectively, tracking the status, and monitoring project progress.

Ideally, this information should be editable with a role-based permission structure to ensure that only authorized individuals can make changes. Additionally, it would be highly beneficial if this data could be accessible via the API to allow seamless integration with our existing reporting and analysis platforms.

These enhancements would significantly improve our project management capabilities and help us streamline our processes even further.

We also submitted something similar: PROJECT INFORMATION METADATA - Autodesk Community 

We need to have this feature in order to improve our efficiency at Project management level.

We were about to suggest the same thing but saw that it has already been suggested here. This would be extremely useful for tracking projects in ACC, particularly the improved Status field Chris gave as an example.

@apattonC5KW4 - my name is Dave Radosevich.  I'm a customer success manager with Autodesk (supporting Micron).  I don't know what company you work for, but it sounds like this feature improvement would benefit you too.  Right now, this particular "idea" has 53 supporting votes.  If you know of others in your organization who would like to see this implemented, please ask them to vote on this idea as well.  

 

I cannot promise anything, but I'm going to do whatever I can to raise awareness and importance to our development teams.

Thank you.  As an owner with 100's of projects having custom fields at the project level and manageable in the project templates or better yet put in libraries where we can push them out to all projects at once and can continue to add and push if warranted would be amazing.  We have tried to use forms, but it is very hard to managed if you require a new field.  All data has to be re-input manually for every project.  Please prioritize this as high as possible.  Thanks!!
