Editing Issue Comments

Once you leave a comment on an issue, you are not able to go back and edit the comment. It would be nice to have the option to edit your comments once you submit them on issues, while keeping the editing history visible as well.

hello

"Good" Idea but that would be a problem since we use Issues for tracking elements of coordination. if anybody could simply edit the comment once summited, it would be a headache to solve, even with the history. I think the best is to reply and correct your previous comments.

Instead of editing, I think removing of comment would be a better option, and only the one who has commented can remove the comment (for obvious reasons).

I have to go with @Yien_Chao

At this time we can trust that a comment on a issue can never be changed.

If we open the door to allowing for the creator to delete it or change it, comments on issues will loose the trust level that they have at the moment.

Please use Accept as Solution and like/Give Kudos as appropriate to further enhance these forums.

The history of any change to a comment would be tracked in the issue history. Only those with Admin rights could delete. We have a lot of comments with errors in them and would need them removed, but in an auditable, restricted way.

This would be ideal for basic typo's but it’s to ensure there's continuity within the activity logs for the issue so users cannot change previous comments if they want to change the narrative of the topic in the future.

They should give us a window period. Like 5 minutes then the comments cant be edited or something. Typos happen all the time or accidently wrote the wrong thing.
