Protoboard pattern

I am still looking for a solution how to implement protoboard pattern

The main problem is how to lock it in position so I can move the components around without moving the part of the pattern  too.

I did try SMD "test pad" on bottom layer.

There are two issues with  that approach.

Both related to how to lock / unlock a group.

Locking each pad in 8x8x3 pattern is tedious!

Second issue is - when I build "locked design block" it cannot be rotated  into position - only moved into a position where it became locked.

Since I need both orientation of the 8x3 pattern the hack is to build two blocks.

Hello @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. What would make this work perfectly would be the concept of a persistent group (we are working on this as we speak) where you could preserve the group definition past the initial selection. For now what I would go with the designblock route, make a few variations of the protoboard pattern and then build up the shape you need from a few blocks.

Don't lock components when forming the designblock you don't gain too much from doing that. Once everything is placed on your design then you can do a group lock and group unlock.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

"group lock and group unlock."

How?

I presume no GUI for that, so can  you give me a hint using CLI ?

Partially solved by combination of layers.

Hi @Anonymous,

There is a GUI for that! Here's the procedure:

1) From the GROUP
2) Click on the Lock
3) ctrl+right click a part within the group

If you want to ungroup it's ctrl+shift+right click

Let me know if you continue to run into issues.
