Resuming The Creation Of Dynamic Block From Where I Stopped

Hello folks, I have been playing around and creating a good amount of
dynamic blocks. My issue is when I have a dynamic block with lots of blocks
that I either need to add a few more or re-define the whole block. This issue
comes up when I have the stretch command.

Say I have a dynamic block with four blocks and need to add three more.

1. How can I add the three new blocks to be also dependent of the existing
LINEAR parameter and the STRETCH action? Is it possible? I can redo the
whole dynamic block easily if the block has only a few blocks to work with.

2. I have moved the existing objects in the visibility states and created a new
LINEAR / STRETCH functions, that did not work.

3. I have applied the VISIBILITY MODE, MAKE VISIBLE and MAKE INVISIBLE but none
worked out.

I am attaching an example, a drawing file. The Dynamic Block is "DetailTags.dwg"
with visibility states in it and would like to add "Medium D" and "Phase E" to the
existing dynamic block. The goal is to be able to Stretch (Move) all visibility states,
so, I can change to any visibility state without stretching again.

Thanks.

omorah,

Not sure exactly what you're getting at.  Are you trying to affect a change using the stretch action?

If you're simply wanting to add the "Medium D" and "Phase E" as visibility states, you were pretty much there.

May I rephrase my issue?

Say I was working on a dynamic block called DetailTags.Dwg.  I already created the block with "A", "B", and "C"

with all the parameters and actiions all set and working.  Then a week later, I needed to add "D" and "E".

Remember, the initial block already works well with the stretching and all.  How would I continue with the last

two to still be dependent on the original parameter and  actions without having to create new ones (parameters

and actions)?  That is, as if the whole visibility states were done on one sitting.

Thanks for your previous response.

Toggle so you show all objects for all states, select the action you want to associate with new objects, right-click, modify selection set, and follow the command line prompts depending on what type of action.

If you want a screen cast showing the step-by-step then add a single file that has the block with visibility states created and the correct objects visible in each state and describe how you want the objects to move.

Sorry, I did not see the stretch action in the block, just the linear parameter.  If i understand now, you would want to add the new items to your stretch action?  In that case you would select the action and click right "Action Selection Set"- "Modify Selection Set" then select your newly added geometry.

In this version I have added a stretch action to your block.

'Libbya' & 'akaterrr55' gave me the combined solutions.
Sorry I missed an "Action" in my example post to clarify what I really needed.
In Libbya's post, I did not see the selection set that was mentioned because I did not add an Action; thanks to 'akaterr55' who pointed that out for me.

Just did a test on my own with my original post and it all worked. Wonderful!
This will be a time-saver for me than redoing the dynamic block when I have many visibility states in it.

Thanks and well appreciated.

Hello, sorry to bother you again with this issue!

I have a dynamic block with all the scales for the office. I need to add two more scales. Now, I am using AutoCAD 2019 and don't know if it makes the difference. I added the new scale objects, toggle to show all object in the dynamic block, and Right-Click, I cannot see neither "modify selection set" nor "Modify Selection Set" in the right-click menu. Hopefully, I'll be able to do the rest. I did not get to keep an example of what I did from the two solutions I got from my post for future reference. Will surely do that this time.

Thanks

Just found it (in case someone else reading this wonders also).

I was supposed to pick the action icon to Right-Click and get the "Action Selection Set".

Just did all and the newly added block worked just fine.

Thanks
