Inesert D. Block

Ok, my company just got 2006 and all my blocks used to work until i tried making them into D. Blocks. Now when i insert my updated blocks (on the one i'm have an issue with, it has a visibility toggle) it comes into the draw scaled up by 12 and the attributes are scaled by something else that i cant figure out. the text is the right size but there base points are moved.

the units in the soruce file and the destination file are the same (inches).

when i remove the dynamic properties the problems remains.

if i copy just the block and attri's into a new file and make that the block file the problems follow.

g'luck on figuring this one out, me nor any co-workers can.

Without the problem block being posted, I doubt any here can help you.

I measured the width of the box in the block itself (Flow Test Data) and it
is 22'-10.25" wide. I bet that isn't the width you really want.

i work in model space all the time, a 22' width is for my smaller blocks.

now that you have that block try inserting it into another drawing, it'll come out as 264'.

Nope. It came in at 22.8562 inches.

However, you must obviously be working in some vertical package (this sort
of info is useful to us). I deem the scale to be incorrect for the inserted
block, I would have assumed the width to be 22 feet. So I'm guessing the
vertical's scaling features are working against us.

What is the desired plotted height of your text?

hmmm, maybe becuase the dynamic's where already removed...

ok this one has a visiblity dynamic attached to it. try this one out.

in its file the width should remain the same, then insert it into another drawing, it should then be scaled by 12.

in paper space the text apperance height is 11/127

Try to remember not to post the dynamic block drawing. Instead
post a drawing with the dynamic block inserted. Otherwise we have
to do more work by saving the drawing and then inserting it somewhere
else.

I still think your vertical package is causing trouble.

I'm not sure what you mean by vertical package. This data is to help with Fire protection design and the ACAD that I use has no upgrades.

You are using vanilla AutoCAD? I'm getting proxy notices when I work with
your block, which means some sort of 3rd-party app created objects in that
drawing.

Specifically, Civil 3D is the missing application on my end.

In your dynamic block file, start your units command and change the
insertion scaling so that the units in that drawing are not set to feet.
Try inches or dimensionless.

yeah its without any extra's but there is a list of other drawings that help assemble mine, which unfortunitly could be cuasing the problems.

Doug, the block he posted has InsUnits=1. But scaling still goes wacky. I'm
thinking Civil3D is mucking with the scales somehow.

(I certainly don't have this issue with stuff I create in vanilla-land.)

just to know that i'm trying all the advice, setting the units to dimless didnot work.

As you can see from this:

Command: _-INSERT Enter block name or [?]: "C:\Temp\FLOW TEST DATA.dwg"
Loading AEC Base...
Loading AEC Base UI...
Units: Inches Conversion: 0.0833

You either need to specify InsUnits=2 for your block drawing (it "knows" it
is in feet) or recreate the block in a blank drawing with all new objects,
so that the proxy objects don't muck with the scaling.

The following happened when I changed the block to InsUnits=2:

Command: _-INSERT Enter block name or [?]: "C:\Temp\FLOW TEST DATA.dwg"
Units: Feet Conversion: 1.0000

I vote for all new objects in a new drawing, since you don't have a vertical
product such as LDD/Civil3D.
