Dynamic block wont align with another dynamic block using alignment parameter ?

Hi all, this is driving me nuts.

I have created a dynamic block with various visibility states and stretch parameters. I have added alignment parameters to this which aligns to lines and blocks successfully, but not to a copy of itself, nor other dynamic blocks with visibility states within them. Is there a way to make it so this block can align with a copy of itself?!

Your hatch is the problem. The alignment parameter doesn't like it. If you create another visibility state without the hatch the alignment parameter will work. Then you just need to change it back to the hatched state

Even though the hatch has a polyline around it currently?

Yeah I even tried creating a new polyline which would be at the "front" and even using that if the hatch was present the alignment parameter wouldn't work

these seems to only be an issue with solid hatches.

anyone see a way around this so i can keep the solid hatch?

Does it need to be a hatch? Are you just using it to mask what's behind?

If you are use a wipeout

yes it needs to be solid hatch unfortunatley.

Why not do as I suggested. Create another set of visibility states which don't have the hatch and use a double lookup, to turn the hatch on and off

its not ideal. This is a block from a drawing template for a partition that has 8 or 9 visibility states already, which all vary in width. if there is to be another 9 visibiliy states for each current state, then this wil lbe very confusing for my design team!

Using the AL command would probably be easier for them if this is the case.

@james6S5PP

If they only vary in width as I saw with your visibility states, why don't you use a lookup parameter to change the non changeable width, and then you can do it.

You could do it with max 6 visibility states

Normal

Normal without hatch

Insulated without hatch
