Dynamic Block Rotation - Potential Bug

Hi all,

I have encountered something I cant figure out regarding copying dynamic blocks with a rotation parameter.

It seems as though when a block within a dynamic block is constrained to any other item, if I copy the dynamic block (using CO) then theres issues with rotation.

In File 1, the jib section is constrained to a line at a point and can be rotated.

When I copy the dynamic block using the CO command, and then use the grip to rotate the new block, the rotation also applies to the original block and messes up the rotation grip point.

When the jib block isn't constrained to anything (as in File 2) there is no issue using the CO command and rotating the new block.

Interestingly there's also no issue when using command C + command V to copy and paste either block.

Is this a bug with no fix or am I missing something? Thanks

To add to this odd behavior I copied the object referenced block to clean drawing and performmed a block edit and the object inside the block was not in the same position as it is inside the original block (inside the block editor).

One problem is that your rotation ref is in one spot and you have it constrained to another object.  There is a logic fight happening inside the block.  It is not uncommon to get odd results in these types of situations.  But having one block influence another block altogether is very wielrd.

I would suggest getting the logic battle worked out first and see how it behaves from that point forward.

Not a bug... it has to do with the way your block is built.

What constraint have you applied between the jib and the line?

And what is that your trying to achieve with dynamic block?

Should the line also be rotating with the jib?

I have modified the dynamic block according to my understanding by removing the constraint and including the line also into the rotating action. Is this what you were looking to do with the block?
