Dynamic Block Changes not showing

Hi

I'm pretty new to cad but it was suggested I use dynamic blocks to make things a bit quicker.  I created a block that could stretch one way and saved it in the autocad folder as a block drawing.  I created a palette and it inserted fine.  I then edited the block to include a stretch the other way which worked fine.  When I went to insert the block from the palette the new stretch wasn't there.  I deleted the palette and created a new one, again making sure two stretches were present but again it disappeared.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it could be one of two thing, from whay I am understanding. 1) Could be as simple as using the Purge command. Or you can try and Redefining the block by right clicking on the block button in you tool pallet. 2) Removing the block off the tool pallet then adding that block again with the revised version.

 If that doesn't work, it could be the way you saved the dynamic block it's self.

The first thing that comes to mind is what jarredmonday is suggesting. Blocks are stored in your drawing file. As soon as you insert a block into a drawing, that drawing will remember that block. If you then make changes to the block in a different drawing, and reinsert it in your first drawing, Autocad simply goes '"Hey, there is already a block with this exact same name in this drawing! i'll just use that definition when I insert the actual block reference, and ignore any changes from the other drawing!"

So if that is the case you can:
1) use the PURGE command (this deletes any unused blocks, dimension styles, etc... from your drawing), but then you have to make sure there are no actual instances of the block present in your drawing.
2) you can redefine a block, using a block from a different drawing. For this, make sure you save the drawing with the new block definition! The easiest way is indeed to right click on the block in the tool palette and choose 'redefine'. Other option is to use the DesignCenter (press ctrl + 2), navigate to the drawing you want the block definition from, find the block and right click to redefine.
3) Rename one of the blocks, so Autocad doesn't think they are identical.

Hello,

I realize this is an old post, but make sure the layer that you have the block on is unlocked or none of the parameters will be visible in model space and therefore won't work.

They will show up in block editor, but as soon as you exit your grips will disappear.
