This doesn't only happen using Safari. I am using Google Chrome on my Windows Box and have the same incredibly unpleasant experience!

In response to MESSAGE 280 OF 282 -

I just got immediately logged out of the forum after clicking the bookmark to go to the civil 3d forum page.

4th May, 2022 - 12.05pm (UTC+10 - Sydney time zone) - clicked on bookmark to navigate to address https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-general/bd-p/66

The civil 3d forum page started loading and then was redirected to logging out of forum page.

This was then redirected to the all forums page.

Browser is Chrome - 100.0.4896.127 64-bit

Also have Autodesk Desktop App and Civil 3d 2021 running and signed in under the same user name.

A screen shot of the redirection is attached.

Just another post on the invalid html code message.

When replying to JDMather's message about the logging out, I received an error that there was invalid html code in the body of the post.

When writing the reply I copied the Message 280 of 282 part from his post.

I then pasted that into my reply above.

I also pasted in the forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-general/bd-p/66 part of the link for the civil 3d forum from notepad and typed the https:// part on the front.

Everything else was typed.

A new problem [to me]....  I got repeated "an error has occured" messages in trying to post a Reply, but I kept trying, and eventually got this:

Kent1Cooper_0-1652445585301.png

Of course I posted [tried to post] the same message more than once, because it never got through.  Since it didn't, how can that be "flooding"?  Something registered its arrival or it wouldn't give this error, but it didn't register so thoroughly as to show up in the Topic.

I also raised objection to emojis, specifically that one, >here<.  I hope squeaky-wheeling in multiple places will get some attention paid to the issue.

Well, the >here< location cited was in the former Community Feedback Forum that we can't reach any more.  Today, that issue reared its head again, but with a twist.  At one time the 8-plus-) combination turned into the sun-with-sunglasses emoji, so you could at least notice it easily when posted.  Currently, it doesn't do that any more, but simply disappears.  In an exchange today, a routine that someone copied/pasted failed in loading as a result, and it took a while for someone to notice the missing code characters, but thankfully someone finally did, and I was able to correct it by inserting a space between the 8 and the ), which fortunately doesn't prevent the code from working.  The disappearance is more of a problem than the emojification, but neither should be happening, at least not within code windows.

It's ridiculous that a technical forum would behave this way (by default... sure give it as a option), but even more ridiculous that it behaves this way in a CODE window, tagged for LISP. See preview below.

This has been an issue for years and here we are reporting it again, expecting different results. I give up.

Sort oldest to newest is not functioning. I actually was searching a post of 30 messages for the latest replies. I could not find them as they were somewhere in the middle which forced me  to scour all 30 messages for the latest. Then I came to this forum to flag the issue and notice the same thing here.  See attached screenshots. I looked to see what the latest post was 25th May, just out of interest but I cannot find it as the sort doesn't function to bring it to the top via newest to oldest. It isn't logical to scroll 289 messages searching for it and maybe find it at 200 or wherever it was placed.

This is a big issue on longer threads lots of time expended. Especially if a user replies to a message mid thread. There may be a need for more functionality especially where a user responds to a specific message rather than the post as a whole. The timeline may go out of whack.

Browser is Edge:

I notice it in the Revit forums especially Revit Architecture.

Whenever someone replies to your post you get an e-mail notification. Whenever you click the link in those e-mails, you get sent directly to the forum thread in question...for two seconds; oh wait, you have to log in first, fine. Then you get forewarded to... top level of Autodesk forum and have to go back to the e-mail and click the link again. This sounds like something that should be possible to fix, so pleeeeeeease *flashing Bambi eyes*

Issue logging in using Safari. Cannot see the notification screens. See screenshot

This has being happening for the past month or two whenever I login using Safari on an iPhone. Is there an issue with the website saving history or something? Likely this has been brought up before but if there is a solution it would be great. This is not happening on my secondary phone which is android and uses chrome.

Different timelines forget the order of them but basically current to older ones. the reason is its set to update with a login, no login no update

Is it possible to get code highlighting for VB.net. This is the most used language for the Inventor API. Code with highlighting is easier to read.

I can see that is an annoyance and a valid comment here.

I do, however, think that is kind of a first world problem.

I use Civil 3D and sometimes even use grading objects.

When grading objects behave the way they usually do,

a mere annoyance would be a welcome break.

@CGBenner why are you talking to yourself? @hfcandrew might be interested in your answer to his question.

I am impressed and really appreciate that you followed up on this.

It's not my question, but I understand you answer and understand that breaking the internal link would be bad.

It is not my area of expertise, but is seems to me:

  • The program internal link is a link to a static URL
  • The link on the Top Level Page is to the same static URL. Does it matter where the link is located on the Top Level Forum page. It is just a graphic representation.
  • The Top Level Forum page could have the forum link in shown twice:
    • The "Because* it is has always been there" location
    • The "Logical" location
    • Based on the "I found it in the last place I looked" rule**, this will not cause confusion.
It does not matter whether the user finds the link in the "Logical" location or the "Because" location.
In my mind, the judicious use of repetitive links is OK.

I suspect that the real reason is "I don't wanna!"

*  My lovely wife and I (mostly her) reared four productive adult children.
I am aware of, support, and have used "Because" as a reason. I have even used "Because, I said so" as an explanation.  In hindsight, I see that "Because" is more succinct than it is substantive.
When one of my offspring, bring this up, I tilt my head, furrow my brow, pause and say "memory is a funny thing ... " It might be more convincing if I smoked a pipe.

**  The "I found it in the last place I looked" rule: Well, duh ... even I am smart enough to stop looking once I find it.

>>>> edited typos self-bowdlerized and added the following content   2022-06-19   5:00 pm <<<<

** Begin Sarcasm (mostly)

Dear Mx. Autodesk.

Your language launderer, Mx. Bowdler, found part of my post offensive. Specifically:

When one of my offspring, bring this up, I **** my head, furrow my brow, pause and say "memory is a funny thing ... " It might be more convincing if I smoked a pipe.

I am 69 years old, am aware of my surroundings, current events, and many current word usages. I try to be polite and feel that I am at least semi-literate. I edited my post to remove the offending word. It did not change the meaning but is ceased to be a common usage. The original fit nicely with the next three words which are also a common usage. Mx. Plant3D and Mx. MEP might have some thoughts on banning this word.

After careful consideration, I still think than MX. Bowdler is being more than a tad bit extreme. My usage was a common phrase, so benign that I am sure one could see it on "Wheel of Fortune." Pat Sajak would not demure. Strolling two words down, I would point out that "head" can have sexual meanings. Even I admit that the intervening word "my" was providential. If I were to post about decapitating male poultry, I would choose my words very carefully.

Mx. Autodesk, (may I call you Auto?) This is not the first time that this has happened. A few days ago, I left you a communique that Mx. Bowdler edited to read:

Auto, as your friend, it is incumbent on me to remind you that
one "Aw ****" wipes out 1,000 "Atta Boys".

Auto, I did not bother to react to this. There are a lot of substitute words that do not affect the intended meaning. I admit that my ends-with-t word is still not acceptable in polite society. Unfortunately, the Internet is not polite society. There is a lot of social on the internet, but polite is often lacking. My ends-with-t word is becoming more common and unfortunately approaching acceptance. I could, and will, chose better words if this is where the bar is set. I suspect that many younger community members would have made a mental substitution with an ends-with-k word. Mx. Bowdler would be shocked. Seriously, that is one reason that I don't care for this this particular bowdlerization. While the ends-with-k word has passed my lips, is has been very rarely, only verbal and never in a public setting. I prefer not to be associated with its use.

                       Danger Will Autodesk! ¯\_[oTo]_/¯ Danger!

Your flagship software has a native object, a vector connecting 2 points. I hesitate to use the word we are accustomed to, because it is also a drug-culture term. Auto, you may not be aware of this usage, but Mx. Bowdler appears to be familiar with some very down to earth usage. I am afraid of where this is heading. I suppose that I could get used to typing "vec2pts" but I will miss the "L" shortcut. I used the word "pipe" in the original reply, so it looks like that word and Civil 3D are safe for now. By the way, "Pipe" is a  bonus word. It has both sexual and drug-use connotations. I suspect that "pipe" may soon become suspect. (One word - Two meanings - Same sentence! Ouch!) Be very careful, Auto. "Rail" is getting a lot of development attention in over in Civil 3d land.

Clean up your monocle, Auto and take a look around. It would be good if Mx. Bowdler loosened their corset before they succumb to the vapors and swoon. Wait. ...  I might be better off if they tightened it even more.

This is far from the most important thing that I need to attend to, but I thought it should be brought to your attention. I will now move on to other things. Auto, I know that you are busy, but you might find time perusing the Ideas forums to be enlightening. I'm certain that you know how to find them.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

All the best,

ChrisRS

Yes.  Yes.  Yes.

I know that Mx. Bowdler is an Algorithm or AI.

I have no preference. Choose whatever A-word you like.

I just want it to be less anɑl and more intelligent.

Dear Mx.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

All the best,

ChrisRS
