Revit Hints and Hacks: To Tag All or Not To Tag All, That is the Question

Tag.jpg

Today I ran across this little Hack about being able to Tag All. This is just too simple not to share. We like to have Revit do as much as it can for us. That is the beauty of the software for sure. Sometimes we don’t really need it to do it all at once though.

In a ceiling plan with all these light fixtures it might be nice to Tag All and get it done.

You can find the Tag All on the Annotation tab and the Tag ribbon.

Make sure you have a tag loaded for whatever component you are planning on tagging. I do have a Lighting Fixture tags loaded.

Select OK and see what you get.

That did not work so well for the canned lighting in the hallway. The tag is bigger than the fixture. Time to Undo that out of there.

Next, select one of the Troffer lights and use the Right+Click menu to Select All Instances > Visible in View.

Use the Sunglasses to Isolate Element and select only the Troffer lights.

Now repeat the steps to Tag All for this view.

Reset your Temporary Hide/Isolation option and all the Troffers are tagged. Next, repeat the process with the canned lights only this time change something in the Tag All Not Tagged dialog box. This time set up a Leader and a Leader Length as required.

After taking off the Temporary Hide/Isolation option all the lights are tagged.
