Subassembly composer and alignment features interaction (new API)

Subassembly composer and alignment features interaction (new API)

It would be nice to have an interaction between subassembly composer and the alignment (through APIs e.g. giving data for the whole curve at which the station belongs and not only data for the current/specific station e.g. start/end of spirals and circular curves, the full superelevation/cant of the curve, radius at the curve etc.). Basically this would boost the engineering capabilities of the software!

For example i would like to have a varying offset from centerline of crown of subgrade, starting at the start of the spiral and ending at the end of the spiral. If i knew the start and and chainage of the spiral, i could import in my subassembly this rule.

I agree that more API functions related to the baseline and radius information would open up a lot of subassembly possibilities.

There are a at least two ideas (and maybe more but I just can't remember them to search for them easily) similar to this one that could also benefit from the votes:

Change subassembly based on baseline radius

Yes please.  I posted something similar here:

Additional API Functions for the Subassembly Composer - Autodesk Community

We use Civil3D for natural stream design.  The corridor geometry is heavily dependent on profile elevations upstream and downstream on the profile, as well as alignment geometry (curve radius/length/stationing, line length/stationing).

We currently use .NET to solve these problems, but doing so in this manner means that any changes or updates we wish to make is like turning a freight ship, because we have to develop the code, bug test it, and roll it out to the whole company.  Being able to do these types of things in SAC would streamline updates to our subassemblies and allow us to implement project specific functionality, as well as opening up more potential contribution to development across our company (not everyone has the time or is willing to learn .NET.)

The SAC is clearly the answer if we can just get a bit more API exposed.  Currently, we can only retrieve the region start station and region end station, and determine if the current cross section is in a curve/line and what the station and elevation is.  If we could get the radius of the current alignment entity, the start and end stations of the current entity, and the baseline elevation by passing a station as an argument to Baseline.Elevation(), this opens up potentially endless possibilities for the SAC which are currently out of reach.

This is my most desired feature in Civil3D.

can we get more horizontal alignemtn api features, I am currently working with CANT and Baseline.Radius would be great along more Arc and Chord API like Degree of Curve for example would be very beneficial for trains and envelopes design and modelling
