Properties window performance

Properties window performance

Hi Autodesk team. I wonder if it is possible to improve the performance of the software when we have activated the properties window. For example, it always takes a long time to react when we have it open and select a new object to see its properties. It also takes long when opened the first time and sometimes when we select the objects first and then open the properties window. Any improvements about this would be appreciated.

Never noticed this delay with versions from 2016-2021. Coult it be the PC you are using?

Hi @santhoulakis, no idea. Here I leave my PC specs

Windows 10

Intel XEON W-2123

64 GB RAM

NVIDIA Quadro P2000 GDDR5 5GB

C3D 2023

Best regards!

Your machine should be faster than mine.

Did you use to have this issue with older versions of C3D? Versions 2016-2021 have not given me this kind of problem with quite a few different PCs. Had other slowness cases but not this one.

I've always experienced this issue no matter the version. I guess it is because of the size of the roads I usually work with. , In spite of what I mentioned, I consider this shouldn't be a problem taking into account the limited amount of information that this window collects to present to the user. I have tried to work with corridors of 6km long as a maximum and the slowness persists when I open the properties window.

Best regards!

Thank you for submitting this idea. We've seen this issue as well, but it can be challenging to reproduce. To help us get to the root of the problem, would you be able to send me the following?

Just want to add my own anecdote here. I always keep the Properties palette open when using vanilla Autocad or Revit.  Useful diagnostic tool; no reason to turn it off.

A year and a half ago I started using C3D. Of course, I kept Properties up as per normal. I only discovered two months ago that it was the Properties tab refresh that made selecting any C3D object cause a 0.5-1.0 second delay when selecting objects. Click label 1, wait, click label 2, wait, etc. I thought it was just normal C3D behavior and cringed my way through it. Selecting 100+ objects a queued up a coffee break every time.

After all that time, I accidentally turned off the palette and bam, things starting moving much faster.

Hi @pobrienFNE96, that's exactly what I mean, and the larger the file, the longer it takes to react when selecting. Thanks for your comments.

@TimYarris Sorry for the delayed response. I haven't found the time to provide what you kindly asked for. I'll try to do it this week.

Best regards!
