It would be nice to include a feature when editing pipe networks to make adjustments to inverts or a series of inverts similar to adjusting points on a feature line. For example, you need to increase the depth of cover over an entire network so you would select all pipes, go to the edit pipe network dialog and set an invert adjust value to adjust all pipe inverts by a determined value.
This is often useful when adjusting a 50% progress set to a 100% CD set of plans. You may have grading mostly done, pipe networks laid out, but balance not necessarily done on earthwork values. To make a global site adjustment to balance the earthwork, you would go to your roadway corridor and adjust all PVI elevations by a fixed amount, adjust all your feature lines by a fixed amount, and then adjust all pipe inverts in a certain range, or all. Currently, the inverts need to be adjusted individually.
The other option would be to set a "relative elevation to surface" value for pipe networks to make them more dynamic to surfaces. For example, I set a point in the surface for Drop Inlet locations. When I update the surface, I update the rim of the structure, but the invert remains. It would be convenient to make that adjustment without having to re-run a rule set and hope it is what you wanted. The rules are great at getting you started, but are not design constraints.
