Allow the Volume Report to open up in EDGE browser for Civil 3D versions 2019 and above
Please have the Volume Report (from the Analyze tab) output generate an .html instead of an .xml that opens in Microsoft Edge as Internet Explorer has been discontinued. This issue is affecting thousands of users and needs to be addressed. Thank you!
There’s a hotfix for 2019 through 2022 that fixes the Volume Dashboard -> Cut/Fill Reports but not the Volume Reports.
I am very saddened that this feature no longer works. I find the volume reports are essential to the method I use in presenting and calculating my earthworks and other materials. This change has already cost me several days trying to find workarounds (no go) and will undoubtedly either add time to my calculations or leave me with not being able to present the same information to clients and PMs as before. Why this would not be fixed bewilders me.
Unfortunately, this does not seem to work for me. I was using the “select material” style sheet, but using the “earthworks” one only brings up the IE tab page
For whatever reason, I cannot seem to even run this file.
I am thinking IF somehow I got the earthworks one to work, I could copy it to create the style sheet I used before, but still no luck.
This is a MASSIVE amount of extra work every time I have to update a design and recalculate materials 😞
@glyn.evansPN8LB , would you please log a support case for this issue? I'm able to get both style sheets to launch successfully on my machine's default browser. There might be something in your environment that is causing this issue for you.
Hi Tim. Ok, for some reason this morning, the cut fill report now does display. However, when I try to use the "Select Material" style sheet for the report, it only comes up with the cut fill like earthworks would produce. Maybe I need to edit the Select Material xsl file somehow. This is my material list, and I used to be able to get each station with each material volume etc in my report not just overall cut and fill.
Old reports would come out with same format as the earthworks but with my material info info like this
I found the other files needed... Lets see if it works. 2023 worked with the earthworks style but 2021 gives me the iehelper page. I am testing 2023 now after replacing the two files I failed to notice before...
HAHAHA It works in 2023!!!! I will solve the 2021 iehelper page issue somehow on my end I think. What an awesome day! THANK YOU TIM!
I'm using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2022, and I just ran into the same problem for the first time when generating Quantity Volume Reports. When it gets ready to generate external .html reports on Microsoft Edge, it just goes blank. I'm able to generate volume tables (see screenshot below) for the time being but it won't generate volume reports since it upgraded to Microsoft Edge. I did load up the latest hotfix and load them in the proper folder (see screen shot below) from the above links from but no success. I also closed the Civil 3D program and opened up the file after downloading the hotfixes, but nothing happened.
Sorry for the delayed reply. Have you logged this as a support case? If you've installed the appropriate hotfix, this shouldn't be an issue any longer.
Thanks Tim. I did download the latest hotfix .xsl files (like in the above select styles screen), but no success yet. I sent a message to the support team at Autodesk. I have the AutoCAD 2022.2.1 version by the way.
