Text plotting too thin/ not at set lineweight

I have a topo file I have referenced into my sheets but for some reason the text is plotting very thin/ illegible unless you zoom very far in. For reference the leaders & Xs shown in the screen shot are on the same layer & should be the same thickness as the text. I've also included a screen shot of the text settings from the topo file. I've used the same text style & ctb file on other projects and never had this issue before.

So far I have tried:

-increasing lineweight

-increasing linetype scale

-resetting all text to Z=0

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Check the text style to see it its using a truetype font.  Truetype fonts don't use lineweight , they change the width on their own as the text size increases.

Also, that type of object are we looking at?  Is it DText, Mtext, Multileader or a Civil 3D surface or point label?

You may want to check your plot settings > Plot object lineweights

Probably not it, but might be worth a shot if you haven't already figured it out.
