Surface and Boundaries

I know you are able to create a surface within Civil 3D, however, I would like to know if you can see different boundaries within this surface. For example, I have created a surface for a site and I would like to know if there's a way that I can define where the roads are on the surface. This way, when looking at it in 3D, I can clearly see where the roads are compared to everything else on the surface.

I would probably make two copies of the surface and in the first copy add a boundary(ies) for the roads and give it a certain style. Use this road surface as a hide boundary ( non destructive) for the second copy and give it a new style. Then in 3d the roads should be identifiable.

I do this a lot in Infraworks and use coverages to identify various features

Have you tried adding a masking to the areas of the surface you want to highlight?
