Profile Geometry Point Alignment Labels not holding edits

I have alignments with Profile Geometry Point labels. Sometimes I want to flip or apply a different style to just one or two of the individual labels, so I hold Control Key, select the particular label(s) in question, and flip or set the new style.

The problem is, upon closing and reopening the drawing, all of the labels reset back to their original default positions and styles. Further, when I Control-Select the individual labels I've changed in order to pin them, I see that the "Pinned" option is locked onto False, disallowing me from pinning them in their edited condition.

Anyone know what this is all about?

Which version are you having this issue with?   Are there data references involved?

I just tried this in 2015 and the edits held for both content and drag state.

I'm on 2019.

I just tried it again, this time 4 different types of edits on 4 different individual label component (via Control-Select).

1 doing a drag state, 1 adding text, 1 flipping the label, and 1 assigning a different style than the default.

This time, upon closing and opening, the Drag State and Label Flip were undone, but the Text Edit and one assigned a different style held on.

@MMcCall402

I just saved, closed, and reopened a second time, and this time, the one which was assigned a different label style was reset back to Default.

@MMcCall402

Next, I just saved a copy of the drawing in question, and I promoted the profile and alignment that I'm testing (there were originally data references). This time trying the 4 different edits and saving/closing/reopening, I see that the edits held.

So it seems that it is labeling Profile Geometry Points from a data referenced profile that is causing the trouble. And the pure garbage that Autodesk calls "Data Shortcuts" rears its ugly head yet again with another bug.

Is this something you or anyone else has experienced before?

Hi @jameshitt,

Haven't seen any reports regarding this. Are you using the latest 2019.2 update for Civil 3D?

If you are, can you post a sample drawing (including the drawing containing the DREF) so that I can take a look on my end?

Thanks,

Thank you , here are the files.

The "X-ALIGNMENT" file is the data source for the data references. "PLAN AND PROFILE" is the destination drawing with the labeling problems.

For the data shortcuts, they should all be in the correct folder structure in the zip file, so they should extract with the same correct structure. In case it makes a difference, make sure you place the two .dwg files, and the whole "Data Shortcuts" folder inside another folder named "Phase 3B", and set this as the Working folder. (I assume you're more adept at manipulating data shortcuts, but in my experience they've always been extremely delicate and finicky.)

Thank you very much again for your help.

Oh and I did make sure to install all of the latest AutoCAD and Civil 3D updates beforehand. I am in Civil 3D 2019.2

Hi @jameshitt,

Thanks for sending the files over. I was able to reproduce the label flipping issue and like you, was able to confirm that it goes away from the alignment is promoted. I escalated this to the development team so they could take a look at it.

The label style changing issue I didn't have as much luck with. I changed the style in the properties palette and it stuck when saving and reopening the drawing. Let me know if there is a trick to reproducing the issue and I'll be glad to pass it along to development as well.

@jameshitt We're having the exact same problem. Did you ever find a solution?

Thanks,

Mark
