ODD (fractional) scale factors

Dear sirs. I received 2 drawings from the same client that I have been working for. This time when I opened the two drawings.....no matter model/or paper space....when I try to scale my drawing "like I normally do" the only options for scaling is in fractions. Such as:1/4"= 1.0'.....There are no options(that normally come up) such as 1"=30' OR 1"=100'.......Please help......I can't work on a drawing like that.

To get the scales to come up within the drawing sent to you need to go to bottom right as shown below and select custom.

From there another dialoge box will open were you can either add or delect scales or reset the scale list.

 

Now I have found that I always need to hit the Metric & Imperial to load all scales for this to import the scale list correctly.

Another option (best option) that may better suit your needs is to insert the original drawing as a block into a blank drawing based on your template file, this will bring all the settings (most importantly ambient settings) that you have changed along with the styles you have created along for the ride.

Type UNITS, if it says Architectural you will need to convert. Presuming it is for background, I would xref it into you clean template at a scale of x=1/12, y=1/12.

Thanks guys. The units box came up(nice trick to know) everything was correct. The other gentleman showed me how to reset the scale list(that worked). Hopefully I won't face this on every drawing, because talking about xref drawings and inserting drawings into other templates I am lost.

Dave, I am working from templates that were given to me and when I browse the line-types and symbols that you guys gave me it does not give me the option to get to the folder that I put them in. Is there a simple way to insert these lin files and symbols into a template? Would I click on the "insert tab" in the ribbon bar?

Work? What's that? Been pretty spotty since the Crash of '07.

I'm an old field guy--Layout Carpenter, Instrument Operator, Grade Checker. On some of my carpenter gigs I use C3D (on my own time at home) to calc layout points for total station layout. Hence the name Pointdump. But as for paid C3D work in a survey office, I've worked a total of 2 days. 4 if you include work with LDT at a civil a year-and-a-half ago. I rarely see the inside of an office. Mine is a world of backhoes, scrapers, blades, dozers, and readymix trucks.

Civil 3D is my hobby. Learning about it is enjoyable, and endlessly fascinating.
