mapiinsert image background transparency setting

First, using the command mapiinsert I bring in the raster UAS image. As you can see below. When I first bring it in the background color of the image is black.

Then I go to the image properties, set the Background Transparency, to “Yes”. Then I change the transparency color to “black”.

Everything works as expected. As you can see below the background is removed from the raster image.

However, if I then save and close the drawing – when I re-open the drawing the background transparency of the image has returned and I again have to go into the image properties to set the back ground transparency color to black.

Is there a system setting that controls this? I don’t remember having this issue in the past and am thinking there must be.

Thank you in advance for any help!

We had that happen here. Double check that you have all your updates and then we had to repair. FYI, we are in 2018.

Hey I got all of my updates installed finally. Sorry it takes out IT awhile to get to updates sometimes.

That being said I still have the problem. However, this may need to get moved to Raster Design. From asking around my work it sounds like this is something that is happening only to those of us that have Autodesk Raster Design installed. I've found a work around using image trim, but I'm still curious if it's a setting somewhere.

Thanks again for your assistance.

Check whether 0 or 1.

For ‘ON’ make it like this:

TRANSPARENCYDISPLAY=1.

I have this problem... in 2023! It's a client logo which resets its transparency color back to black every time I reload. I agree, it would be great if all clients used blocks for their logos. But most people love using tiffs, pngs, etc... for reasons. And no, none of the suggestions provided thus far make the problem go away. Hey, @autodesk, has anyone fixed this yet?!

You yourself(s) (and everyone else that wants it fixed) will need to report it to Autodesk for a resolution

Post here is the ideal way https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-ideas/idb-p/31

If it's not a bug, just a workflow, you yourself(s) will need to open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help to confirm:
