GEO MAPPING

AutoCAD civil 3d brings map in with no problem but when you try to capture an area of the map so it will plat with the rest of the drawing I get a fatal error.

Morgan,

Specifics please. What version/service pack? What Coordinate System? Can you post your drawing for testing?

AUTOCAD CIVIL 3D 2015, NOT SURE WHICH SERVICE PACK USING THE TX83-NC COORDINATES SYSTEM BUT WHEN WE TRY TO CAPTURE THE IMAGE SO IT WILL PLOT WITH THE DRAWING, AUTOCAD GIVES US A FATAL ERROR AND MAPS.PNGSHUTS DOWN

Morgan,

That "crop circle" in your screen shot looks suspicious. Have you been using the Location Panel in the Geolocation Tab? Specifically, Edit Location or Reorient Marker? Those commands are for Vanilla AutoCAD and are problematic in Civil 3D.

Morgan,

The Geo Marker is usually in the center of the coordinate system's extents. To verify, you're using TX83-NC which uses Metric units? Or are you using TX83-NCF which uses US Survey Feet?

Can you post your drawing?

Morgan,

Try _RECOVER. Or _AUDIT if the drawing will open.

Anyway, if you can get the drawing to open, hover your cursor over the Geo Marker. It should look like this:

Morgan,

OK, something is definitely amiss then. Did you try _RECOVER? Or _AUDIT? And you can post your drawing file without opening it.

APPARENTLY THERE IS SOMTHING ELSE WRONG, SYSTEM IS STILL CRASHING WHEN WE TRY TO CAPTURE THE IMAGE

Morgan,

And here's the fix. Use the _GEOREMOVE command to remove all Geographic Location Information from your drawing. You'll see the View Cube return to it's normal position. Then you can re-assign your TX83-NCF Coordinate System and go back to drawing.

Morgan,

OK, slow down...deep breaths.

Step 1. Use command _GEOREMOVE to remove all geographic location information from your drawing. Did you do that?
