Could you explain whats not working and version of C3D your using. Are you getting a error? Usually the report is a html file that gets copied to word or excel

This may be pr-mature but i downloaded the 2019 C3D. It does create a .html but not a Word or Excel document.

Yes it has always created reports in that manner, then you just select the text and copy & paste to the desired office software.

Depending on the report created, there may be an option to specify report output file type on the "Save As" dialog.

Dear Friend,

This video might be helpful to you.

Further if you can select All (Ctrl+A) the contents of the html file, copy it and paste it on excel or word.

Thanks

Have you tried changing the output file type at the bottom of the report Saveas dialog box?

Also can you please let us know which Report you're having trouble with?

@Anonymous,

Hi there! This is a great opportunity to meet you, My name is Copper Chadwick, and I would like to help you with trying to export and create reports in Word & Excel formats. I am however a bit confused on a couple of points that you might be able to clear up for me with answering a few of my questions.

  • What software specifically are you working in when creating these reports?
  • What kind of reports are you trying to create?
  • What kind of objects or to what purpose are you creating reports?
  • What is your preferred format to create those reports, (how would you like it to work, ideally)?

Thanks in advance and I hope we can get this issue resolved quickly for you.

Hope this will help!

@Anonymous,

That is unfortunate, I am having difficulties duplicating your problem, within civil 3D 2018 or Civil 3D 2019. I do have another question to ask (they may seem too simple, but just to eliminate all potential errors in the process):

  • In your sceenshot you shared (thank you by the way, that really helps); it shows that you are trying to save the report file to a location "A:\Civilre...doc" - Is that a folder location you have permissions and access to normally? Try to change the save as location to a more safe location such as "C:\ Users\<your username>\Documents\Civilre...DOC"

I am attaching a screenshot of, maybe, a more conducive file save location?mapcheckreport.PNG

Solved:

I found the answer here.

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/enable-or-disable-confirm-file-format-conversion-on-open-2b...

Enable or disable confirm file format conversion on open

Word offers you the option of having a file format conversion dialog box appear when you open a document in a non-Word format such as plain text, RTF, or HTML file.

  • If the check box is selected, Word informs you that it's doing a conversion and gives you the chance to select a different file converter, if you want to.

  • If the check box is cleared, Word does the conversion automatically.

If you no longer want this dialog to appear, you can disable it in Word options.

  1. Open the Word Options dialog.

    • In Word 2007, choose Microsoft Office Button Click the Microsoft Office Button and choose Word Options.

    • In Word 2010 or later, select File > Options.

  2. In the left pane, select Advanced, and scroll down to the General category.

  3. Clear the Confirm file format conversion on open check box.

  4. Click OK to save your changes.
