Connecting piped when null structure is set to No Display

I have a 72" underground retention system with a header pipe.  When I connect the pipes to the header with a null structure using the ODOT pipe network setup and set the null structure to No Display, the pipes appear to connect to each other.  

However, when I put the same pipe network into my company standards settings and set the null structure to No Display, the pipes will not connect.

What setting do I need to change in my company standards to make the pipes appear like the ODOT pipe connections?

Pipe ends are turned on in both scenarios.  Turning the pipe ends off did not help.  

If I set the style of a null structure to something other than no display, it doesn't affect the way the pipes look.  Furthermore, the ODOT network is working on No Display and is working the way I want.  There has to be something else that makes it work.

I've figured it out.  Edit the pipe style.  In the plan tab there is a box to "Clean up pipe to pipe connections".  That did the trick.
