Concrete Box Culvert Custom Sizes Revert to Default

Hey All,

I have been trying to put together custom sizes for electrical duct bank by adding new sizes to  the concrete box culvert pipe in partbuilder. I have done this before for circular pipe without a problem. Unfortunately after I validate and regenerate the part catalog, the part size and geometry reverts to the default 24"x24" concrete box culvert pipe. In addition, the only pipe that will work when adding pipes to my network is the 24"x24" default pipe. What would be the best way to solve this issue?

There is quite a lot that can go wrong with parts when you edit them in part builder. With out seeing the part itself diagnosing you problem is nearly impossible. At a minimum we would need to see the Size Parameter Configuration Window and Model Parameters Edit window.  I hope you saved a copy of you box culvert to revert to. Before editing parts I recommend creating a new part chapter and saving the parts to that chapter.

Have you tried swapping the parts. They don't automatically change themselves.

Hi @samuel.byrns ,

Thank you for reaching out in the Autodesk forums. This is a great platform where you and the rest of the community can benefit.

I agree with @cwr-pae. It is challenging to know where it went wrong during the customization. My speculation is the parameters were not set up correctly, therefore you are seeing it default back to the 24" x 24" size.

There is a good AU presentation on bringing in custom parts in Civil 3D. See this link to the presentation: Custom Content for InfraWorks Using the Infrastructure Parts Editor and Inventor. The title is slightly misleading as it goes through bringing custom content into Infraworks and Civil 3D.

If any of these responses get you going in the right direction, please hit the accept solution as this benefited you and the rest of the community.
