Autocad project task - Feature Line

Hello friends!
How are you?

I am studying about some tools on autocad civil...

I am struggled using feature line, and I need some help. It's a simple task on this dwg file

Does anyone could help me to solve it, please?

I've already tried it, with no success.

Thank in advance

Fabricio

I think I will delete this post. I couldn't do this project (example) modeling a parking lot using only feature lines.
I was looking for a workflow to learn how to do that.
I couldn't find on youtube too.

There could be many solutions. I'd create a Featureline along the centerline of the lot between the two entrances where you need to match the existing grade. That will show you how the grade through the lot might flow.

I like to grade to the CL. So I'd grade out from the Center Featureline out a positive 2%. The exception would be at the throat of the entrances where you also need to match existing elevation with the bottom of curb.

Others like to grade to the curb line so they would grade out at negative 2%. There are many possible solutions in the real world that would depend on local regulations, existing ground, finished floor elevation of the building the lot may service, etc.

Do I have to start creating a feature line from the entrances? Like this?

I am used to work with aligment. I think it is easier!

But I need to do by feature lines.

Pretty much. I'd make a complete Featureline through the lot to grade from. It look like you're going to have to do some editing to the grades to make the requirements.

You'll want to use the grades you create to create Top and Bottom of Curb along the lot. It's not specified in the requirements but you might want to see if you can get the curbs close to the existing elevation.

Yes. An alignment and corridor would work as well. But I'd use Featurelines for such a small lot.

This is how i woud begin.

As @AllenJessup  suggest working from or to a center is a good idea.

1. alignment and profile  down center of parking bays

2. 50 foot section to visualize existing

3. create a temp surface off the alignment and profile

4. elevations for temp/ TC relative to temp +0.5

5. tie driveways into existing

6. tie tc to existing

@Joe-Bouza

That's a good workflow. However the task was to grade the lot only using Featurelines. You could cheat and use an alignment and profile then extract Featurelines. But I don't think that matches the spirit of the exerecise which seems to want to get you familiar with Grading with Featurelines.

You could also use Gradings from the CL Featureline. But again.....

@Joe-Bouza

I am stuck on step nº 3;

3. create a temp surface off the alignment and profile

I don't know what to do next...

I've seen a surface in your file "Grading Group 1", it is a surface from feature line. Is that a temp surface on step 3?

temp.PNG

I don't understood why I create a aligment and profile the first.

The alignment and cross section are an analytic tool so you can determine the direction and magnitude to grade. ( note we are following grade

using the profile (feature line) of the parking area I created a typical cross slope of 2% this is then reviewed on the section to see if confortable with the preliminary cut and fill.

then the parkin FL are linked to the temp surface to form the FG break line ( now they are dynamically linked to the temp surface and the center profile/ cross slope

The temp surface was created with a grading off the PGL extracted from the alignment. the grading was set to 2%--2% ( this can be easilt revised if desired and the parking FL above with update accordingly

Hello Fabricio

here the the special corridor technique.

IMHO this is the most stable use of FL
