2018 corridors refuse to accept transition alignments

I am starting another corridor in 2018 and again the corridor is refusing to attach transition alignments.  It says it will, then ignores them.

Last time I had to port it back to 2016 to get it to work.

Hi Ann. I'm not sure what's not working for you. So I did a quick screencast to show how it worked for me.

Thanks
Kevin

Kevin.

I'm sorry.  It didn't work.

I've had the same issue before in 2018.  It worked in 2016.  It seems to work in 2019.  It will not work in 2018.  Did you try it in 2018?

Bad install?

I pick the alignment.  It shows down in the target box, then forgets it.  It won't 'stick'

I tried picking your way & selecting.  It won't take.

I just tried 2018 and it works. I have C3d 2018.2 installed along with AutoCAD 2018.1.2 update and map 3D 2018.0.1.

Thanks
Kevin

The BasicLaneTransition is not using the Transition alignment for me in 2018 as well. Same updates you have, Kevin. Using other subassemblies with targets work fine, but not this one. Although they do still show as being selected in the target mapping dialog, they just don't do anything to the corridor.

This really doesn't affect me, as I never use the Basic* subs anyway.

hi Ann

I concur with @Jeff_M and stay away from Basic subs

Back in the office & going through the options.

What would you recommend instead of the basic transition lane?

None of the others seems as appropriate.

My screen says

12.0.1386.0 AutoCAD Civil 3D 2018 2 Update

with Map 2018.0.1 &

8.0 100.0 Architecture 2018.

Is that newer or older?

Also the generic links refuse to attach to the assembly

2018.2 is the newest build for 2018

I usually use the LaneSuperElevationAOR for any pavement sections

This is what I use for almost all of my lanes:

AutoCAD Civil 3D Help: LaneSuperelevationAOR
http://help.autodesk.com/view/CIV3D/2018/ENU/index.html?guid=GUID-98C93726-64C9-42D9-8213-9CBCD95CBF...

It does NOT require the alignment to have superelevations defined. You can assign typical slope & width, then assign targets for the width and outside elevation for the transitions.

The superelevation lane refused to accept the horizontal targets as well.

@annw2, the super lane works here, in the same drawing that the Basic Lane Transition doesn't work. Can you share your drawing file? Just noticed that you included them in the original post, sorry.

The Super Lane also worked fine in your drawing for the first region.

I'm not getting any sub assembly whatever to accept a transition alignment.

I am going to try on a co-worker's computer tomorrow.

I'm starting to wonder if I have a corrupted install.

Not sure if this is the entire issue, but the drawing you posted has the current layer locked. I was unable to even change the subassembly until I set the current layer to another. So, make sure you don't have a locked layer in play on one of the objects.

I tried another co-worker's computer.

The super elevation & generic link sub assemblies.

Unlocking all the non Xrefed layers,

audit - 1 error found

synchronizing the transition alignments.

It is still not working.  I go select the alignment, it seems to allow me to pick it, but the selection is grayed out in the box and it won't attach.

I'm not experiencing any issues with your file.  Can you record a screencast of what process you are following?

Here is a link to a screencast I just recorded  showing it works fine at my end.

Thanks for trying.

I did a RECOVER  & tried recreating the corridor in the design file as opposed to the file with the alignments shortcutted in.

I don't know how to do a video, but I did 4 screen shots.

Incidentally, it won't accept the surface targets either.

It ignores the add.

@annw2, See HERE for Screencast to record your videos.

You cannot add a Surface if there are no subassemblies which use a Surface to target...the drawing you posted above does not. It sure looks like the Alignment has been added in that screenshot....but it looks like you are still trying to use the BasicLaneTransition. As I noted previously, that subassembly appears to not be working correctly for me in C3D 2018, either, but the LaneSuperElevationAOR is working fine.
