Redesign from scratch Desktop Connector

We are facing issues working with Desktop Connector, and it is confirmed by Autodesk that they cannot fix them because they came from an acquired software. The idea is that Autodesk will design a brand new Desktop Connector that is on a par with other synchronizers such as Dropbox, OneDrive, or GDrive clients among others.

Here is a list (not exhaustive) of issues found:

• No option to change the location of the ACCDocs folder, causing issues even with Navisworks and absolute paths.
• No option to work with folders/files path length longer than 244 chars.
• Slowness navigating folders.
• No option to rename files.
• No option to check folder size.
• Sync for folders is not kept in time.
• No option to "Open file with...".
• Deleting multiple files rarely ever works.
• When uploading multiple files or folders, some of them are sometimes not uploaded and no error or log is shown.

I would add some:

• Not possible to decide what you have mirrored in your pc and what not
• Issues refreshing drives
• No option to copy/paste files from folders in DC properly

Totally agreed with the comments above! And I would add:

• Issues hosting point clouds via RECAP PRO in Autodesk Construction Cloud. When they are already in Desktop Connector, all the team Synchronized and with all tools up to date, some members can see them (both in Revit and Recap) others cannot.

• Sometime unable to rename files even if it is not open on any system.

We are struggling with all of these issues daily which is causing huge frustration within our design teams.

Please fix these issues ASAP and help us help you with implementing your application seamlessly within our company's digital eco system.

Big frustration here too.  enough of a frustration to want to remove all files from ACC environment.

Totally Agree, such kind of tool is supposed to simplify users work, but in reality it is adding more complexity to execute the work.

We want the desktop connector UI to function similar way as the file explorer does. Fast and easy.

Moreover, One of the missing feature in ACCDocs which  is very annoying specially to me personally, is to copy a folder from ACCDocs to the local drive, I have to copying files only not folders with multiple files and folders inside.

I think its clear that this is a important need for hundreds (if not thousands) of Autodesk Desktop Connector Users.
