It is not possible to assign Watchers by role or company. We have to select users one at a time, which makes no sense as it is common to have more watchers than Assignees. We should choose "Watchers" the same we choose the "Assigned to" (individually, by Role and by Company).
I agree with the ability to add Roles or Companies as watchers, but I think there is some nuance to the application. Having a Company listed as a "watcher" means everyone in that company will get notifications which is often not necessary or beneficial.
For example, if you are doing Model Coordination and generating issues, we don't need the field side doing field checklists or punch lists being notified (and vice-versa).
Ideally, we would be able to generate a different notification workflow by tool or Issue type. And/or have the ability to pare down the notification by using a combination of Company and Role (i.e. notify company "ABC Concrete", but only users of that company with the role "Trade Partner BIM".
I wholeheartedly agree with an upvote for this. It's disappointing that there haven't been any updates on this issue. It's puzzling that we're able to add roles for assignment but don't have the same capability for watchers; this situation seems quite illogical.
