Desktop app not showing updates

Anonymous

Hi

is anyone having issues with the Autodesk Desktop App not showing clearly available updates, in particular with Inventor Professional 2018.

I have build 112 currently installed which has no service packs, however I am aware that service pack 2.3 is released. Is

I also have other Autodesk products installed and in the instance of AutoCAD 2017 this does show that there is a service pack update.

Is there are an offline installer page to get to service pack updates where the .msi's could be downloaded? I have used these recently to update Recap Pro?

Log out and back into the app: if no help, try this https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autodesk-desktop-app/ad-desktop-app-showing-no-information/m-p/755925...

You can also get your updated from the UPDATES link at your Autodesk accounts page https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/all

Hi. I have the same problem. Only the SDS folder no longer exists. I suspect that for 2019, ADA installs into a different folder. Thoughts?
Thanks
Kevin

Hi@Kevin.Spear,

Thanks for your feedback.

If Autodesk desktop app runs properly then definitely there should be SDS folder.

I have some questions.

which product you installed?

have you installed the updates from accounts portal?

Autodesk desktop app have one feature, always install the latest product updates at the same time, did you tick the checkbox or not?

have you activated the product?

could you please try this.

Exit Autodesk desktop app(from system tray menu)
       Stop AdAppMgr Service(task manager)
%Programdata% > Autodesk > Delete the “SDS” folder
       Restart Autodesk desktop app.

I would like to know more about the issue, could you please send me the log files?

Please find the attachment for log file instructions.

Regards,

Srinivas.

I have 15 products all installed from desktop app while I was signed in. I now that there are updates now. They do NOT show up when I am signed in. I sing out, ask the app to check for updates and then they appear. If I sign back in, they all disappear. If I ask to check for updates while signed in, it says there are no updates. I did all of this just now.
Thanks
Kevin

You are correct. When signed in - no updates. I sign out, right-click system tray icon to check for updates and they all come back.

See attached zip file for logs.

Thanks
Kevin

I have the same problem. The desktop app never shows me any updates and it always says "Your available updates are installed". I had to hear of a college of mine that there was a hotfix for Revit (Revit 2018.3.1 Hotfix), but had to install it manually.

I've tried the steps above..

Dear kboschJGDNZ,

Thanks for sharing the log files.

Log files shows that, you already installed the update(Revit 2018.3.1 Hotfix). so its already installed in client machine, it won't show up on Autodesk desktop app.

if you want to try to install from autodesk desktop app, uninstall the update, do a check now on autodeskdesktop app then you can see the update on Autodesk desktop app and then install from autodesk desktop app.

Hope this helps.

Regarsa,

Srinivas.

@lim.wendy, can I get some clarification on how to update my version of the Desktop App? I just installed Civil 3D 2021 and noticed there are no updates. I know there were a few updates, so I had our CAD Manager download and install them. Typically, the Desktop App shows any add-ons and updates.

Hi @jamesmac1201,

Thank you for reaching out. Please follow the instructions posted by @srinivasarao.potla. If you are still facing issues, please upload a copy of the log file.

Additionally, do note that the My Updates tab stops displaying if:

  • There are no more updates to install.
  • A communication error prevents updates from being delivered to your computer.

    To check for communication errors:

    1. On the system tray, right-clicklimwendy_0-1626310085958.png.
    2. On the shortcut menu, click Check now.

If a communication error is detected, the Autodesk desktop app displays an error message.

You may want to try to uninstall and reinstall the Autodesk Desktop App. See How to clean uninstall and reinstall Autodesk Desktop App.

I attached the log files and an image of how my Autodesk Desktop App looks. You'll notice that Civil 3D and Infraworks are not shown on the left side panel. Even if there are no updates, all loaded programs are typically shown on this panel.

Also of note, I performed a clean uninstall and reinstall (per instructions) of the app prior to creating the log files.

I have:

Civil 3D  2020, 2021

Revit 2018

Infraworks

Navisworks Freedom, Manage

Autodesk Recap

Autodesk Formit
