Hi,

I intent to create a new type of valve. ( Dairy design). Creating the symbol is not the issue. But how can i connect this to the spec/ catalog item? there I can't find a key to match the symbol to a sanitairy valve.

what do i need to do on this?

The list with possible valve types in P3D is hard coded, you cannot make your own valve type in 3D. You have to choose one (or more) of the valve classes that come out-of-the-box

So you can make your own P&ID valve class and symbol, but the mapping to the spec (P3D) is based on one of the ootb classes.
Choose your P3D class in the object mapping tab, by putting the valve class in override mode

Once you have done that you can individually map properties

If you want to have both P&ID and P3D in the same project and you want to map them (so you can use LineList) you can do that in the P&ID Object Mapping node

Again the list of possible valve classes to map to is limited to the ootb valve classes.

I want to add this family of valve's they have multiple ports. I want to add them to the spec in a way that details are stored ( make, type description ordering number etc) So when I prepare a P&ID a TAG list made at the same time. (and updated during changes)
These valve's have some dedicated function f.i. CIP route selection : 2 ports and a drain, Manifold valve.'s: 4 ports, and a drain . Divertor valve's upto 6 ports and a drain etc. etc.

So I made some symbols in P&ID, so tagging works. but mechanical/purchase data I have to add in the spec. So How do I do that is the question.

In your spec editor, use the property editor to add extra properties. You can do it in the catalog or in the spec depending on where you want to keep and manage that information.

In your plant 3d project you will have to manually add the same property to the respective P&ID/P3D class - or the overarching class (for example if possible define the property at the 'hand valves' node instead of at the 'Ball Valve' node)

If the property has the same name in the spec as in the project, the mapping should happen automatically after restarting the project. If it is an existing project or you use different names for the properties you might need to manually configure the property mapping in the Project setup - Pipe Spec Object mapping (see screenshot in earlier post). Once that is setup, custom properties from the spec will be filled in in your symbols.
