Can Autocad Map insert, link or connect a COG image, (Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF)?  (Sample)

I know adding an Geo Reference Tiff is usually done with the MAPIINSERT Command or FOD.

Has anyone done this with a COG image? - If so, explain the process.

No matter how tight the grid interval is, a TIF is a raster which is a derivative of what likely started out as Lidar.  As a raster it loses fine details like ditches, walls, etc.  It would seem to me that small granular tiles of classified Lidar in LAZ format (better compression) would be not only easier to stream, but also lead to better end results (TinSurface).
