Zoom XP?

Could some one please explain to me how these zoom XP factors work? and how I can figure out which factor to type if I want a certain scale? for example... If I want a 1:1000 scale I would type: Z, then (some number I am not sure how to find goes here)XP.

If working in a viewport on a layout tab, just use the Zoom 1/#xp where # is
the scale of your drawing, like 1"=20' is Zoom 1/20xp assuming your paper is
in inches and your drawing is in feet. If you have a 2008 or 2009 version,
just use the pulldown on the viewports tool bar. You need to be in the
viewport first.

1:1000 scale would be entered as 1/1000xp

Unless you are using metric meter units then it's the inverse Ie. 1:1000 = 1/1xp or 1:500 = 2/1xp or 1:100 = 10/1xp.
However if base units are mm then its just the scale that you want Ie. 1:100 = 1/100xp

I want to ask about zoom xp command. I insert 2 tiff files on a dwg file. That 2 tiff files was surveys with different scales. 1:100 and 1:200. Since that both surveys hasn’t coordinates before I insert it I calibrate it in a different program so the dimensions that was written would be measured on CAD to be similar as they should. After I make some work on top of tiffs like polylines hatches etc… I make a viewport with 3 areas so I can plot both tiff and the work on top of them and my stamp. On eatch viewport I zoom and write 10xp and 5xp where tiff were. Thought was all ok but just that time I realized this ……. all the work that I do was fine stamps polylines etc BUT the tiffs weren’t ok. I measured some lines with dimensions to be certain and there waren’t correct. I measured the exact lines on Model space and were just fine !!!! ……….. Any help or thoughts ?

10XP is not 1:100

So by how much where your measurements off from actual dimensions? what proportion?

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community

I just have a few questions,

What AutoCAD LT version are you using?

Do you have a sample file that you'll be able to share?
