Xref notification/updates not working

This problem just started on AutoCAD LT 2021. Previously, If I made a change to a drawing and went to another drawing where it was xref'd to, the manage xref icon in the tray would have a notification and I could right click on it and reload the xref. Suddenly, the notifications have stopped and even if I try to reload via the tray, I get the message in the command line that "No changed xrefs found". I have to open the xref manager window to reload it so it updates. I've tried searching for a solution TRAYNOTIFICATION = 1 and XREFNOTIFY = 2 don't do anything. The xrefs are just overlays. Thanks for any help.

Hi @pmarxAJLUU,

I am sorry to hear you have had some trouble with the notifications for updated Xrefs. There is another system variable XNOTIFYTIME that could be affecting it. This determine the time between checks. See the documentation for the XREFNOTIFY (System Variable) and XREFNOTIFY (System Variable) for more information.

Did you restart your computer and try it again? Always worth a shot.

Are you actually using SAVE command before you switch over to see if there is a prompt or not for that file? That is required.

Where do you store your files? Are you using a cloud service like OneDrive or GoogleDrive or...?

Cheryl,

thank you for your timely reply but unfortunately that didn't seem to be the issue.

Well, I figured why not and turned off my computer (seems to work better for me sometimes than restarting) and what do you know? Guess it was gremlins. Moot points now but yes, I was saving the root .dwg file. Not insulted you asked. Wouldn't be the first D'oh moment I've ever had. Also, all the files reside on our local server. Thanks.
