Pass 3 7300 objects audited
Total errors found 0 fixed 0
Command:
Command: S
SAVE
*Warning* Multiply owned object, handle "E12F74DBCE1206BF"

Hi Ivan,

This suggests to me that an object in the drawing database is owned by two
or more handles, which signifies corruption.

Another powerful recovery technique is to simply WBLOCK the drawing out, or
DDINSERT the drawing as an exploded block into a new drawing. These recreate
the drawing database and can solve some corruption problems. I would give
this a go.

i just realized a situation where i would like very much to have 'multiply owned objects'. possibly dozens in one project. i would like to know if in the future an audit would break the link to multiply owned objects that i establish. i can live with the ugly *warning* but i really need this ownership to persist. for example, if i could outline the shape of my building end section i could place all of the structural columns and use the outline as a boundary to xclip each column then modifications to the one boundary would update all the columns. if i set up our projects this way would autodesk concider my drawing corrupt? i hope not!!

mataeux,

the multiply owned objects Audit compalins about are a database issue
inside AutoCAD. They mean that for instance a line is owned by two
different block definitions which cannot be.

Your clipped xref example is possible to solve if you use full AutoCAD
instead of LT.

in LT or full autocad, you can have one spatial_filter object linked to more than
one insert's xdictionary, it is beneficial because it saves on file size and the one
object can be maintained rather than multiple objects.

i took the advantage to post this question here as a dispute to an autodesk
clergy member.

the inquiry applies to full autocad and customization more than LT, i know,
but the issue was not resolved by using full autocad. the problems are one, by
saving a drawing as illustrated above, autocad issues a *warning*, suggesting
a possible flaw or corruption; and two; although an audit doesnt seem to pick
up on this possible flaw, will autocad someday stop supporting multiply owned
objects?

i lost helpful functionality when audit 'fixed' minserts whose columns or rows
were 'wrongly' set to 0. It used to be if the columns were set to zero, it would
cause a stair step array instead of a grid. that was soooo cool because i had
defined a unit stair in three dimensions i could parametrically input a complete
3d staircase. audit 'fixes' that now. im afraid that the beneficial 'multiply linked
objects' will be 'fixed' some day during an audit.
