Troubleshoot xref screening

My drawing file is printing to pdf with the xref screened.  I have selected layers I would like to screen, but the rest should print black.  I did some research and reset the XDWGFADECTL system variable, I've checked my plot table settings, I can't find a source of the problem.  See attached screenshots.  Flummoxed.

I don't see any XREFs nor XREF Layers listed:

PLOT TRANSPARENCY is turned on/box checked by chance?

All the "fade" setting in AutoCAD are for display-on-screen purposes only. Nothing has changed about them through the 2024 versions yet. So it's likely something else. I too see no XREF in your layer list. Did you bind it and now it is a block?

Start testing (I am assuming CTB, not STB):
1) PLOT using only NONE for a plot style table: same issue occur?
2) PLOT with monochrome plot style table: same issue occur?

Apologies.  Hard to see screenshots when you select them to upload.  See correct one I just uploaded.

Now share the pdf that shows the screened layers. Also do a screen capture of your Plot window used to create the pdf and share that here as well

Oops, just realized I don't understand what a monochrome plot style table is - please explain.

Monochrome test. Seems normal.

None as page setup.  Sheesh.  How could the page setup introduce screening?

I need to screen select objects, this doesn't accomplish that.  When I try, all the plants in the existing conditions get screened.

What does this mean?

I'm not sure what you're trying to do.

@chick.biker wrote:  "When I try, all the plants in the existing conditions get screened"

Are you saying you only want certain plants to be screened and not others?

Are those certain plants placed in a different layer than the other plants so that layers can be treated differently?

Could you share your dwg?

Can you mark up which plants are the ones you want to be screened?

You may need to edit your custom CTB file to correct the screening: hard to tell without your DWG file and custom CTB file.

Your choice of the Microsoft PDF driver is not a choice I would use: any reason one of the 5+ PDF drivers bundled with AutoCAD/LT are not working for you?

I need to screen the plants in the xref, not in the current file.  Makes a pretty clear distinction between categories of plants.
