Strange behavior "Stretch, add vertex, convert to arc"

Good morning,

I would like to report a very weird behavior that I have been experiencing lately when i try to use the "Stretch, Add Vertex, Convert to Arc" features/options, whenever i hove to a point i get the context menu next to the mouse pointer, but as soon as i move my mouse to select it, the context menu goes away, i am not able to select any of the options the context menu just disappears as soon as the mouse moves.

How can i select those options? is there some option i can modify to make the context menu "stay" a bit longer to allow me to pick the option i want?

I am using Autocad LT 2015 and windows 10.

Best regards

Did this problem start when you switched to Win10? But it worked well before hand?

Well... I can say that my colleague is using windows 7 and it works perfectly fine with windows 7 on her's.

She hoves over the point she gets the context menu with the "stretch add vertex and convert to arc" and is able to pick the option with the mouse cursor.

But assuming this changed because of the operating system? you think that is possible?

thank you for your time.

You can't ask me the same question I asked you LOL Only you can answer that question based on your experiences.

Is LT2015 fully patched and updated? it needs to be. Read more about other things to can try here http://autode.sk/1IY4C2X

Hi @informatica-psml

Looks like your posting in the forums for the first time, WELCOME!

To add to this thread you need to make sure that you have applied all updates/service packs to your AutoCAD LT 2015.

It could be the adjustment of operating systems that might be causing some issues. Can you confirm that you applied all service packs?

To add;

  • The English language versions of AutoCAD 2015 and AutoCAD-based verticals should be installable if you have received the Windows 10 update, KB3081448 or later.

This is happening to me too. In fact, I recently switched to a laptop with windows 10, but I use a 22" screen to work with.

I noticed that if I'm working on the laptop screen this works, but if I drag the autocad window to the 22" screen and try to use the dynamic menu on hatchs or polylines the menu disappears when I try to choose an option.

Do you think you can help me?

Thank you so much!

Hi @ diana.francisco,

Welcome to the AutoCAD LT forum.

I'd be happy to try and take a stab at your problem.

Let's see;

What type of resolution if your 22" screen?

Have you noticed an issue with other AutoCAD LT releases?

What AutoCAD LT version are you using?

Hi Emmseleys!

Thanks for trying to help me!

I'm using AutoCAD LT 201, the some one I used before, with windows 7. Before, with windows 7, I only had a desktop and a 20'' screen (I don't know what the resolution was).

Currently my 22'' screen has 1920x1080 resolution.

I've never tried another version of AutoCAD on this computer, but we'll get some licenses for AutoCAD LT 2018. Do you think tht with a newer version it will work?

Thank you so much,

Diana

Hey @Anonymous,

Sorry but you actually left out the last number of what version you are using... If it's 2017 there is an update that can be applied to handle high-resolution monitors. It was included in the coding for 2017 and 2018.

If you're currently working with a release lower than 2017 you can try the suggested workarounds here:

Post back with any updates.

I've always had the same problem since this feature was implemented.
I found that I have to move the mouse VERY quickly across to the box, trying to avoid the tip of the mouse passing over any part of the screen, in order to be able to use the add vertex etc options. Too slow, or passing over any part of the window on the way to the box makes the box vanish.
It's been like that in every version including C3d 2018.

Of course, since Autodesk BROKE this feature in release 2018 (so that you can now only do it once and then have to deselect the object and reselect it to do it again) I've started using pedit again because it is far more reliable.

It's best, when trying to aim for that hover-popup screen is to simply slide you mouse onto the popup: it requires no 'speed' at all, but it does require a deliberate and methodical slide right onto the menu.

It takes a practice, and once mastered, it require no more effort even in the 2018 versions. I'm not sure about the deselection tip you offered, re-hovering on the grip brings that menu up. OR are you using a custom mouse with a 3rd party mouse driver (as opposed to letting Windows run it)?

No custom mouse, no 3rd party drivers, just the same bug that's afflicting several people, using both C3d 2018 and Map 2018, which Autodesk has known about for a while.  ie The menu does not come up a second time. You have to deselect and reselect the polyline or else run a regen in between commands or use pedit.

As detailed in this thread https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-map-3d-forum/grips-bug-with-map-3d-2018/m-p/7108738#M49961

This may be specific to C3D or Map3D: this is the LT forum and we in our office do not your your two software.

YOu might get more help (or at least confirmation and possible workarounds) in the C3d and Map3D forums. Sadly jumping arund software forums will not expose cures no one else knows about in these programs.

They're all built on the same core software with many bugs shared between all of them. and many settings and features likewise. Therefore my initial post was completely relevant.

Anyhow, I didn't know I was IN the AutoCAD 'light' forum because they all look exactly the same when they load from Google. I  saw a big A with the word AutoCAD. If Autodesk chooses to give similar names to their products and make all the forums look the same, they can expect cross-posting.

Shrugs.

I totally understand, but no one in my medium sized office using LT, AutoCAD or ARCH 2017-2018 has any issues like you describe with the pop-up being difficult to use.

So it goes back to my original thought: is your mouse overly sensitive in its settings, or is it just a matter of mastering the technique?I don't know your background, but in my office we are all long-term users using very basic wired mouse hardware and Windows like everyone else out there.

I was having the same issue on a laptop running Windows 10 and Autocad 2018.  A desktop version of 2018 also running 2018 did not have the same issue.  I resolve the issue by going to the Display properties in settings and changed the scaling option from its recommended 125% to 100%.  Once I changed the scaling, the context menu worked perfectly.

Hi!

This solution did acually work. But maybe I dont want 120% on my 25 inch screen.

Any other solutions are welvcome, but works for now. Thank you!

Upgrade to the 2018 versions of AutoCAD/LT is what Autodesk designed as a solution.
