Strange behavior "Stretch, add vertex, convert to arc"

Good morning,

I would like to report a very weird behavior that I have been experiencing lately when i try to use the "Stretch, Add Vertex, Convert to Arc" features/options, whenever i hove to a point i get the context menu next to the mouse pointer, but as soon as i move my mouse to select it, the context menu goes away, i am not able to select any of the options the context menu just disappears as soon as the mouse moves.

How can i select those options? is there some option i can modify to make the context menu "stay" a bit longer to allow me to pick the option i want?

I am using Autocad LT 2015 and windows 10.

Hi,

Same problem here as the original poster.

It appears that no solution has provided other than 'upgrade to the latest version'.

I've just tried one of the suggestions and note that the problem doesn't happen when using the Laptop's own screen but, is present when the larger screen is plugged in.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Problem solved!

As with previous poster. it worked ok on the Laptop but not the big screen. I changed the 'display setting / scale and layout' to 125% (it was previously 100%, and it worked.

In fact, I changed to a custom 102% which suited me fine as it gave a better resolution as well.

This just started happening to me. I havent changed anything. I've been using windows 10 and Civil3D for a while now. Just changed mid-day, randomly. 

Anyways, a work around is to hover over until the "stretch/add vertex/convert to arc" menu pops up and then you can press the down arrow key on your keyboard to cycle through the options. Press enter when the option you want is highlighted. Voila!

Hi! I will try that next time I work in CAD, for now I have the 125% zoom and it works, but still very unpleasant feature. I hope that they will fix that bugg soon.

I don't see that option under display.  I have the same issue but only when working on my 32" 4K screen.

You can use arrows to select the option you need, then press enter.

This happened to me. Suddenly, only now, the Add Vertex window disappears when i try to add. By typing "A" in the command line, the problem is solved. But I don't know why the window disappears when I try to click on "Add Vertex".

Is DYNMODE variable set to 3? It should be, not -3 or any other setting.

Yes DYNMODE is 3.

Don't know my friend, your "me too" post didn't have enough information to distinguish your issue from the other LT2018 users on laptops with external screens.

Is that your setup?

OPTIONS - SELECTION - GRIPS - select - SHOW DYNAMIC GRIP MENU.

I am using C3D 2018 and encountered the same problem on windows 10. However, I have been using windows 10 for several months and the strange behavior of the "Stretch, add vertex, convert arc" only started in the last week or so. I have the same strange behavior with adding leaders to multi leaders.

Did you get a chance to try the tip right above your post, or some of the other suggestions yet?

Try selecting the vertex then clicking the "ctrl" key on your keyboard. This is another alternative to selecting it with your mouse.

A couple years late to the party here, some of the responses in this thread do help fix the issue, but if anyone needs an immediate work around and can't be bothered to change display settings you can still hover on the snap point and then use a command line input to still use add or remove vertex (or any other command that is visible on the prompt window that you can't get to before it closes). Just hover over the snap and then type r + space to remove the vertex, or type a + space to add a vertex

Actually the space after isn't even necessary, you can just type a or r

This problem is at least 3 years old and just happened to me today. It should've been resolved long ago. I'll give you and others a partial solution. When you pass over the grip and the message box appears, hit "a" on your keyboard to add a vertex OR hit "s" to stretch. I know this is just a workaround. This needs to be fixed once and for all by Autodesk.
